Water does not enter the washing machine drum, what to do

If you, as usual, filled up the powder and loaded the laundry, turned on the machine, and no water went into the drum, then the wash will not start.

If the machine does not take on water, the problem should be solved without delay. Next, we will look at the reasons why water does not enter the drum of the washing machine, and suggest effective methods to fix the problem.

Search for reasons and verification

Not the fact that the water is not poured due to some kind of breakdown. First, eliminate elementary reasons due to which there may be no water in the drum:

  1. Check the water supply in the water supply system. The washing machine usually has its own valve that opens and closes the access of water. Perhaps someone twisted it by mistake or by negligence.
  2. Check the integrity of the inlet hose. It could burst (then you will find a puddle near the typewriter) or become clogged. It is also possible that a bend is caused by improper installation. Remove the laundry from the drum and turn off the power to the appliance, then check the faucet and the integrity of the hose.
  3. Is the water supply and dial hose OK? Turn off the machine and try to understand why the water is not coming, or call a specialist.

Why is there no water in the drum

The first reason that water is not supplied to the CM drum is a clogged inlet valve. It accumulates small debris from the water supply system, which is held by a special mesh filter.

The filter is mounted on the outside of the CMA housing, just before the inlet valve. To get to it, you need to unscrew the inlet hose.

Attention! Unscrew the intake hose by hand, do not use tools, so as not to damage the plastic fasteners. The filter itself is more convenient to get with pliers – it is deeply planted in the groove.

After taking out the mesh, rinse it under the tap and clean it with an old toothbrush, then put it back in place. The hose also does not hurt to rinse from a possible blockage, and at the same time inspect for bends and cracks.

If checking and cleaning the filter did not bring the expected results, and the test wash showed that water is still not getting into the drum, we can talk about a more serious failure.

Possible damage

The drum does not fill with water for a number of reasons, often an empty tank is accompanied by an error code on the machine’s display or a combination of flashing lights. If you have not thrown the user manual far, you will quickly figure out what caused the problem.

Let’s consider the main reasons:

  • Intake valve failure – it could “burn out”. Washing will not start until you replace the element. To replace the valve, you must remove the top cover of the machine. Under it you will find coils that let in or block the flow of water with their cores.

On a note! The solenoid valve is usually beyond repair.

  • Failure of the control board in electronically controlled machines. In mechanical SMA, the programmer breaks down. Water does not flow due to the fact that the control unit does not send a signal about water intake. The module needs to be “flashed” or replaced with a new one.

Important! If replacing a module is not the most difficult repair operation, then experience, equipment and a special tool are needed to flash it. The board is an expensive part, so trust the mechanic so that repairs are not expensive.

  • Breakdown of the pressure switch – level (pressure) sensor. If the sensor breaks, then the machine does not evaluate how much water enters or does not enter, which means that the wash does not start. The sensor must be replaced – it cannot be repaired.
  • Blocker failure. If the UBL breaks, then the corresponding light will be on on the control panel. In this case, water is not collected and washing is not started for your own safety. UBL is also not being repaired – it needs to be changed. We wrote about how to change the blocker in the washing machine in previous articles.

Important! Perhaps the point is not in the breakdown of the lock, but in the fact that you did not close the door tightly. Try again to close the hatch more tightly and restart the wash. Also, in addition to the UBL, the hinges on the door could loosen or the tongue of the blocker itself could bend.

We recommend that you start self-repair only in cases where you have repair skills. And if you see a screwdriver and a tester for the first time, call the service, and the problem will be fixed quickly and professionally.
