The wasp does not leave a sting in the skin after an attack. When a bee stings, it remains, and the insect dies.
Why is this detail important? Because the wasp can attack several times, however, subsequent bites are no longer as poisonous as the first. But for a person who is allergic and has been bitten before, this is unsafe. A reaction may occur, which is manifested by Quincke’s edema. Anaphylactic shock is also possible. Its symptoms are a drop in blood pressure, arrhythmia, heart pain, and breathing disorders. The victim begins to spasm, he cannot breathe.
Possible damage to the central nervous system, it consists in cerebral edema, vascular thrombosis, which can lead to a stroke. The appearance of headaches, back pain is not excluded. Sometimes nausea and diarrhea occur. The bite is often accompanied by a rash, itching. Body temperature may rise. The damaged area becomes pale (in the very center), redness appears around. In the event of such a reaction, an ambulance should be called. By the way, those who are susceptible to insect poison, going into nature, should take an ampoule of adrenaline and a syringe with them (an injection into the soft tissues stops the attack). Hormonal ointment does not hurt either, it relieves inflammation. If you want to know if you have an allergic reaction to bee or wasp stings, get an immunoglobulin test.
First aid for bites
Even if there are no other reactions besides redness and itching, it is better to take antihistamines.
If there is a sting in the skin, remove it (for another 2-3 minutes, poison is released from it). Use the dull side of a knife blade or tweezers. Treat redness with hydrogen peroxide, apply ice to relieve swelling.
To reduce itching, you can make lotions with a soda solution (1 teaspoon per 200 ml of water). Raw potatoes have a good effect. A slice or grated mass must be applied to the bite site. Cooling menthol ointment will also reduce pain. It causes reflex excitation of nerve receptors, which reduces their sensitivity. As a result, itching is reduced. You can use mint toothpaste. The essential oils it contains soothe irritation.
Other pests
Unpleasant consequences arise after the attack of other insects. Pain from midges and mosquito bites will reduce the calendula alcohol solution. But the horsefly attack ends with the appearance of a wound that can bleed. It is important to treat the affected area with hydrogen peroxide. The tick bite is painless, and therefore often responds to it with a delay. Signs of an attack – itching, weakness, joint aches, fever. Examine the body if symptoms appear, especially areas with delicate skin. If you find a tick, remove it. To do this, grab the pest with tweezers as close to its jaws as possible and, holding perpendicular to the bite surface, rotate the body around the axis. The affected area must be treated with an alcohol solution.
Take the tick for examination. Many arthropods are carriers of encephalitis and borreliosis. The laboratory will determine if you need further treatment.
