How to make an effective washing powder from soap?

In the age of allergic reactions, the issue of environmental friendliness of detergents is particularly acute. Laundry soap (HM) is a proven, well-known product that got its name for a reason. It looks unpresentable, but it is an irreplaceable thing in the household, and most importantly, it does not cause allergies and is an excellent antiseptic.

Composition of laundry soap

As part of HM – 72% fatty acids and 20% alkalis. Dyes, fragrances and other impurities are absent. This product is ideal for laundry, and if you look at what expensive eco-friendly powders are made of, you will find that many of them are based on ordinary soap.

What exactly are these light brown bars welded from? Here is the composition:

• animal fats – usually pork or beef, less often – fish;
• sodium is a caustic alkali, washing even old pollution;
• fresh water;
• kaolin – minimizes the effect of alkali on the skin;
• fatty acids – for foaming;
• other additives – for example, rosin, lard;
• inorganic ingredients – soda ash or caustic soda, are used to saponify fats.

If there is no kaolin in the composition of HM, then it is impossible to wash their hands, hair and other parts of the body. In HM, 72% kaolin is always present.

If you listen to the commercials, then “Tide” and “Ariel” are the only salvation from the mud. In fact, an effective washing composition can be prepared with your own hands – based on XM.

As part of a home detergent that can be used instead of an industrial one, the following components may be present:

• XM – the main ingredient, is responsible for the quality of washing off dirt.
• Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a low-strength alkali that gives a whitening effect and enhances the effect of HM. Has a deodorizing effect.
• Borax is a mineral with a cleansing and disinfecting effect.
• Soda ash is a strong alkali. Destroys fat and makes water softer.
• Salt – to fix the color.
• Essential oils – for fragrance.
• Citric acid – to lower the pH level and soften fabrics.

From one component

Even without additional ingredients, XM will adequately replace synthetic detergents (SMC). Its biggest advantage is safety for allergy sufferers and children. It produces little foam, so it can be used for washing in CMA.

How to prepare powder from HM:

• Grate the bar. If for hand washing – then on a coarse grater, for an automatic machine – on a fine grater. For 1 kg of laundry, grate 1 tbsp. l. shavings.
• Dissolve the chips in 250 ml of hot water.
• Pour the resulting homogeneous mass into the CMA tray.

Disadvantages of the resulting product:

• Things acquire a specific smell. But it is easy to get rid of it – you just need to rinse thoroughly, you can add an extra rinse.
• A plaque appears inside the drum. But this problem is also solvable. It is necessary to wipe the inner surface of the drum and the seal from time to time. Every 3 months – run the machine empty, adding vinegar, baking soda and citric acid to the water. All these ingredients can be replaced with a special detergent for washing machines – there are enough of them in any store.

Multi-component products

There are many recipes based on XM, consider the most popular ones.

From laundry soap and soda. This is the simplest recipe – XM is mixed with sodium bicarbonate in a ratio of 1:2 or 1:2,5. You will need:

• bar of soap – 100 g;
• soda – 3 tbsp. L.;
• water – 4 l.

Cooking procedure:

• Take warm water in a metal saucepan.
• Put the shavings obtained on a fine grater into the water.
• Heat the saucepan over low heat while stirring the mixture.
• When the chips dissolve, turn off the heat.
• In a separate container, mix 3 liters of hot water with 3 tbsp. l. soda.
• When the soda dissolves, add the soda solution to the soap.
• Stir the resulting mixture until a homogeneous consistency – it should resemble liquid laundry gel.
• Pour the resulting mixture into a plastic container and place it in a dark, dry place.

With activated soda. To enhance the washing effect, instead of ordinary soda, activated is used in the above recipe. You can cook it yourself – sodium bicarbonate, scattered on a baking sheet, put in the oven for 1 hour. The temperature is set to 200 °C.

With soda ash. This option is even more powerful. The calcined version activates the alkaline reaction, allowing you to remove old dirt. For 1 kg take:

• XM shavings – 150 g. To measure this amount, take a 1 liter jar – it should be slightly incomplete.
• Food / soda ash – 500/400 g.
• Optionally, you can add 3-4 drops of essential oil.
• 2 tbsp. l. salt – to fix the color, if you have to wash colored clothes.
• 3 art. l. citric acid – to soften fabrics.

All ingredients are mixed and stored in a sealed container. Stored for 3 years. The prepared mixture is not safe for the skin; it cannot be washed by hand without gloves. When washing in SMA for one cycle, use 1-2 tbsp. l. mixtures.

For baby clothes. To prepare a powder for washing children’s clothes, you need a borax. Mix Ingredients:

• borax (this is sodium borate – do not confuse it with boric acid) – 200 g;
• XM chips – 150 g;
• sodium bicarbonate – 500 g;
• essential oil – the child should not be allergic to it.

Gel. To prepare a liquid remedy, proceed as follows:

• Grate baby XM – 180 g.
• After dissolving the chips in 8 liters of boiling water, pour in 180 g of soda ash.
• After mixing the ingredients, cool.
• Pack in plastic bottles.
• If desired, add aromatic oil.

Alternative from the manufacturer

The manufacturer does not sleep. For the lazy, but vigilant in matters of environmental friendliness, he prepared a new product – Cinderella. Two forms of release are offered – liquid and powder. 5 liters of liquid cost about 250 rubles, 300 g of dry – 40 rubles. The composition is the same as that of the simplest home-made powder, you just don’t have to rub, measure, weigh, mix anything – everything is ready to use.

Reviews about “Cinderella” are not particularly enthusiastic. After filling into the drum, the chips do not dissolve well, even after the product has been previously diluted with water. There are yellow stains on the clothes. Having tried Cinderella, many come to the conclusion that it is better to rub the soap yourself.

On the basis of ordinary laundry soap, quite effective washing powders can be prepared. Unlike purchased ones, their composition is known for certain, they are safe, and they cost a penny. The disadvantage of home detergents is the same as that of all eco-powders – they do not always cope with complex contaminants.
