Washing oily skin: which tool is right for you

Defeat oily skin using soap, alcohol and alkali based cleansers? Will not work. You will only be able to achieve dehydration of the skin and provoke an increased release of sebum. What and how best to wash, read our article.

Oily skin: signs and causes

Do not change oily skin. However, it is quite possible to correct her bad behavior, which is expressed in the ostentatious demonstration of greasy shine and a tendency to clog pores. Only competent care is needed, which implies proper cleansing. But first, let’s define the signs of oily skin on the face.

  • The sebaceous glands intensively produce a secret – hence the excessive shine, which is difficult to control. Makeup does not hold well, foundation “floats” a couple of hours after application.

  • Pimples and comedones for oily skin are common. Excess sebum does not have time to come to the surface and accumulates in the pores, where propionibacterium acne begins to multiply, the causative agents of an extremely unpleasant inflammatory process.

Oily skin can be aggravated by various factors, both external and internal. Among them:

  • hormonal changes;

  • unhealthy diet with a predominance of flour, fatty, sweet;

  • illiterate care;

  • stress.

Oily skin needs washing twice a day.

Means for washing oily problem skin

Owners of oily skin are recommended to distinguish between make-up removal and direct washing and cleansing in two stages.

  1. Makeup remover

    Should have the ability to dissolve any cosmetics, even the most persistent. The usual alkaline formulas are too aggressive. For oily skin, hydrophilic oils or micellar water are suitable.

  2. Washing gels or foams

    Designed to rid the face of impurities and residues of make-up remover. Contrary to stereotypes, it is not necessary to clean oily skin “to a squeak” – this will lead to dehydration and, as a result, increased sebum secretion, so choose the most delicate products and put soap aside.

    When cleansing oily skin, it is important not to overdry it.

Oily skin care

Basic skin care for oily skin consists of several stages.

  • Washing. Do not forget about it and, even if you are very tired, be sure to cleanse your skin before going to bed: a nightly “mask” of foundation will only exacerbate the problems of oily skin.

  • Toning. Tonic will refresh the skin, tighten pores, restore pH balance and make the epidermis more receptive to the active ingredients of the moisturizer.

  • humidification. If the cream clogs pores, give preference to the gel texture of the product. And replace thick creamy moisturizing masks with fabric ones.

  • Exfoliation. The frequency of this procedure is 1-2 times a week. Exfoliation with a scrub (not suitable for skin with open inflammatory elements) or products with acids stimulates cell renewal, facilitates the release of sebum to the surface of the skin.
