Warm beer for sore throats

In folk medicine, warm beer for colds and sore throats is used as a warming, diaphoretic, analgesic and antiseptic that speeds up the body’s metabolism. We will look at the correct recipe for making this drink and methods to improve its not very pleasant taste.

Warm beer is effective only in the early stages of the disease (the first 2-3 days), when the infection has not had time to weaken the body or go into the acute phase. If time is lost, the treatment will not be as effective, and in the acute phase I advise you to abandon this method altogether.

Contraindications:

  • high body temperature;
  • children and old age (after 65 years);
  • heart disease, kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes mellitus;
  • alcoholism;
  • purulent tonsillitis;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • taking antibiotics and other drugs that are incompatible with alcohol.

warm beer recipe

A simple, versatile method for making warm beer for colds and coughs.

Ingredients:

  • beer (preferably dark) – 200 ml;
  • pepper – a quarter of a teaspoon;
  • honey – 1-2 tablespoons;
  • lemon zest – 10-15 grams (optional);
  • cloves, cinnamon, ginger – to taste (optional).

The taste of warm beer is specific and not everyone likes it. Adding spices and zest to the composition softens the taste, making it not so nasty.

Preparation

1. Pour the beer into a saucepan, heat to the first bubbles (not higher than 40-50°C) stirring constantly to evaporate most of the alcohol and carbon dioxide. Do not bring to a boil! During the heating process, a lot of foam may appear. It is desirable that at least a third of the pan is free.

2. Add honey and pepper, if desired, lemon zest, cloves, cinnamon, ginger. Stir, turn off the gas on the stove, cover the pan with a lid. Insist 1-2 minutes.

3. Pour warm beer into a mug (if zest or spices were added, strain through cheesecloth).

4. Drink in small sips preferably before going to bed. Pre-drink 1-2 liters of water and wrap yourself well to sweat. Take no more than 2 times a day for no longer than 3 days in a row.

Warm beer for sore throats

Opinion of traditional medicine. Most doctors disapprove of warm beer treatment because the weakened body has to neutralize the alcohol, which puts additional stress on the liver and heart. In some cases, the blood flow to the sore throat caused by alcohol exposure increases the swelling and inflammation.
