Wardrobe revision from Alexander Rogov

Wardrobe revision from Alexander Rogov

Some peoples have a wonderful tradition – in the New Year to get rid of all rubbish. Obsolete items, household appliances and, of course, clothes are sent to the trash heap.

Why it is imperative to “generalize” your wardrobe and how to do it correctly, says the fashionable stylist Alexander Rogov.

Classic female phrase: “I have nothing to wear” in crowded closets suggests that you do not know your own wardrobe. So it’s time to put things in order there. And it’s not just to shift things in a neat pile from one shelf to another, “pokoshmiriv” the mole, but to conduct a quality audit and get rid of non-liquid assets.

As a rule, you can find anything in any wardrobe: a favorite thing of youth, dress from the first date, things that are out of fashion, clothes that are not relevant to age, occupation, etc. But we keep all this, because it is a pity to throw it away (they are still like new!). Meanwhile, these “extras” fill the space in cabinet and lead to an absurd situation: there are a lot of clothes, but nothing to wear.

So, what should you absolutely get rid of?

  • From things in spools;
  • From those clothes that have a spot or draw in a conspicuous place;
  • From things that are out of fashion;
  • From clothes bought on occasion losing weightwhich never happened.

To make the task easier, you need to divide all things into three groups.

The first group – basic wardrobe items

Basic things for every woman are individual, like herself. For a student, these are one thing, for a business woman – others, for a housewife – others. We are all different, we do different things, we have different interests, hobbies, the nature of our work and, accordingly, each of us has our own personal basic wardrobe.

For a business woman, this will be a set of pencil skirts, sheath dresses, fitted jackets and not so – in general, a classic. For a housewife, the base will consist of more comfortable and bright things: sweatshirts, jeans, T-shirts, knitted tops, denim jacket, etc. Students’ wardrobe can be more daring and variegated, because they need to demonstrate what kind of fashionistas they are.

If you have defined a pencil skirt as a base, you know what you will wear it with, what it is combined with, you are comfortable in it, then on your next shopping trip you should get things that you already know how to wear. Another pencil skirt, but of some extraordinary color (bottle green, burgundy) or with some interesting detail – this is your first purchase. The same can be said about any item: jeans, trousers, etc.

Do not be afraid to duplicate basic things with some kind of analogue (in a new fabric, with an unusual element or an unusual color).

Group two – things to get rid of

These are things that are out of order or out of fashion, sweaters in pills, with elbows or throats stretched out, things with damage that cannot be repaired. For example, shoes with a too long pointed toe. They may also return to fashion, but not in this life.

Get rid of things that are small too. Do not store them for years, hoping for weight loss, which still does not happen. It happens that things are stored in the wardrobe in case their owner wants to change her style. But at the same time, the thing is no longer modern, not relevant and in general is no longer about you. Get rid of this ballast – it makes life difficult!

The third group – things that you forgot about

These are random items in your wardrobe that you bought spontaneously, because you liked them, but you did not have enough imagination to come up with what to wear them with. These things have been in the closet in a bag with a label for several years (often their presence just flew out of your head). And today, having “dug out” them, you can come up with some new unexpected moves, with which they can be combined.

Of course, spontaneous purchases are bad. On the other hand, this is quite normal, because you can come across some unplanned item in the store (a stunning lace dress or blouse, outlandish trousers, etc.) and really fall in love with it. But several stages must go through in order for spontaneous acquisitions to get along in your wardrobe.

How to painlessly get rid of non-liquid assets. Take some kind of box or unnecessary suitcase and put there the things that were taken away during the audit. In exactly two weeks you will forget what you put there, which means that you have already got rid of them, and these things are no longer in your mind. Now it’s much easier for you to give them away or throw them away.

How to store clothes correctly. After the revision, you will have a lot of space and a large number of hangers. Do not store several items on one hanger (on top of each other). What hangs in the lower layer is forgotten. These things don’t work, they hang like a dead weight. Ideal when all the clothes are hanging on different hangers and all in plain sight. Then it will always be in use, and you will have more variability in the configuration and creation of different images.
