Belly dancing is an ideal solution for many women who want to feel beautiful and confident in their body. It is suitable for pregnant women and for women after childbirth who want to get rid of the unnecessary belly. It consists primarily in the movements of the hips, abdomen, arms and hands. They strengthen the muscles of the legs, abdomen, hips and buttocks, i.e. places particularly susceptible to fat accumulation.

Where does it come from?Belly dance is an oriental dance popular in the Middle East and North Africa. We associate it primarily with the so-called Hollywood movies

Where to practice? In many cities, dance schools that offer belly dancing lessons are becoming more and more popular. However, you can also practice alone at home due to the uncomplicated steps and movements.

What will we need?

  • primarily oriental music – Indian, Egyptian or Hollywood
  • good mood

How to practice? There are no fixed rules and steps, so it is suitable for people starting their adventure with dance. You can figure out the steps at your discretion by moving your belly, arms and hips to the music. Common recurring elements in belly dancing are:

  • hip movements – moving the pelvis in a horizontal direction or making circles with it. Move only your hips, not your whole body. These are the basic body movements in this dance that must be mastered at the very beginning
  • figure eight – rotating the pelvis in the shape of a figure eight in a horizontal direction
  • vibration – rapid shaking of the pelvis or arms
  • shimmy – trembling of the breasts or buttocks

Hip movements – the beginning of learningThese are the basic movements that are performed in belly dancing. There are several ways we can move our hips:

  • hip slam – a movement similar to closing a door with the hip – a sudden, slightly exaggerated push of the hips to the side
  • rotational movements – alternately direct the hips forward by making a turn. When one hip moves forward, the other moves back
  • up and down movements – we do them quickly tilting one hip up, the other pointing down

Is this dance for me?Belly dancing is an activity that affects our health and well-being in many ways. The music accompanying learning is very positive, puts you in a good mood. The exercises themselves facilitate fat burning, strengthen the muscles, especially the buttocks, thighs, calves and abdomen. As a result, the body becomes firmer and the waist narrower. At the same time, we strengthen the spine and pelvis (the latter is primarily useful for pregnant women).

What for the mind? The body movements performed in the dance are very feminine and sensual. They allow you to raise women’s self-esteem, which is why it is recommended for shy people who can feel more confident. This dance also teaches you to accept your own body and feminine curves. It brings out true femininity by exposing the figure of a woman in dance. Thanks to it, we can charm our man by organizing an individual show for him.
