Wall decoration with laminate. Video Tips

Laminate is a well-known floor covering that is practical, aesthetically pleasing, easy to install and affordable. An interesting design solution would be to use this material for wall decoration. This is quite unusual, but in the interior the laminate on the walls will look original and aesthetically pleasing.

Wall mounting options for laminate flooring

Laminate has a wide assortment, so you can use a variety of wall design options. Since there is no load on it in this case, inexpensive types of this material can be used. Most often, laminate is used for wall decoration in kitchens, hallways, living rooms or bedrooms (at the head of the bed).

When choosing glued laminate installation, you must first align the walls on which it will be attached

Mounting this cover on the wall is very simple. Laminate is attached to the wall in two ways: adhesive mounting and fastening to the lathing. When fastening to the lathing, preliminary leveling of the wall is not required, since its flaws will be hidden behind the finish. However, in this case, part of the area is lost, and for small rooms this can be a significant disadvantage.

How to lay laminate flooring on walls

In order to fix the laminate on the wall, you will need: – laminate in the required quantity, – panels (wood or metal), – a hacksaw or electric jigsaw for wood, – a block for sawing the laminate, – a hammer, – screws and a screwdriver, – silicone, – pencil and ruler.

Install laminate flooring on the wall in several steps. Take the necessary measurements and calculate the required amount of material. Using a ruler and a pencil, make markings on the wall so that you can navigate along it later. Attach the panels around the perimeter of the wall using a screwdriver. Make a crate (sheathing) of the wall, that is, mount a frame from the panels. It is fixed on panels arranged around the perimeter.

For better waterproofing of the building material, before snapping it in, be sure to treat the joints of the connecting locks with silicone

Then install the laminate. Lay it clockwise. Using a jigsaw or a hacksaw, cut off the parts that fall out onto the edges of the walls. Thoroughly fill the inner and outer corners with silicone for added strength and durability to the entire structure, as well as to increase its moisture resistance.

How to care for your laminate

Laminate is resistant to many types of influences, but you still need to follow simple rules for its care. In a room with a laminate finish, it is necessary to maintain an optimal microclimate. Ideally, the temperature is eighteen to twenty degrees, and the humidity is fifty to sixty percent.

The surface of the laminate should be wiped with a soft, slightly damp cloth as needed. Stubborn dirt is removed with special care products for this coating. The panels should not be rubbed with mastic or wax, as these products will leave unsightly marks on the surface. It is better to use special pastes for the restoration of the laminate.
