Volunteer blood donation for sick children

We donate blood to children – this is the slogan under which a two-day voluntary blood donation campaign for sick children will begin on Friday in Łódź. This is the eighth edition of the campaign of the Łódź Hospice for Children Association. So far, 135 liters of blood have been collected.

The campaign is organized by employees and volunteers of the Łódź Hospice for Children Association, who will also donate blood for little patients. The president of the Association, Janina Adamczyk, hopes that the inhabitants of Łódź will also take part in the project this time.

Blood can be donated on Friday and Saturday (October 5 and 6) at the Regional Center for Blood Donation and Blood Treatment at ul. Franciszkańska in Łódź from from 9 to 13. Adults may join the action (you must take your ID card).

At registration, everyone will receive an initial questionnaire, after which they will be able to go to the blood sampling procedure. Detailed information on who can become a donor can be found on the hospice website – www.hospicjumdladzieci.org.

For all blood donors, sick children from the oncology ward of the hospital at Sporna Street in Łódź have traditionally prepared thank you drawings. The donated blood will go to pediatric hospitals in Łódź and the entire region.

For several years, the Łódź Hospice for Children Association has been helping terminally and chronically ill children, as well as adults from Łódź and the province, providing them with home care. Currently, it is the leading home ventilation center for children and adults in the city and the region.

The hospice also provides comprehensive medical, psychological, social, pedagogical and pastoral care to patients – children and adults – suffering from incurable diseases and genetic syndromes, and provides support to families while caring for their relatives and in mourning. (PAP)
