Voltenac is used to treat pain and the symptoms of inflammation in injuries of tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints, for example as a result of a joint injury with ligament rupture, stress injuries, contusions and extra-articular rheumatism. The preparation has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, and its active substance is diclofenac sodium. Voltenac is a gel and can be dispensed without a prescription.

ACTION
Voltenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.
Voltenac – indications and dosage
Voltenac is a gel recommended for use:
- in the treatment of pain and symptoms of inflammation in tendon injuries,
- in ligament injuries,
- in injuries of muscles and joints, e.g. as a result of torn ligaments, post-exercise injuries or contusions,
- in extra-articular rheumatism.
Dosage
Voltenac is in the form of a gel and is intended for topical, external use. Apply a thin layer of gel to the sore spot and rub it in gently.
- 2-4 g of the preparation; use 2-4 × / d.
Voltenac and contraindications
A contraindication to the use of Voltenac gel is hypersensitivity to:
- any ingredient of the preparation,
- acetylsalicylic acid,
- other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Voltenac – warnings
- Voltenac is a preparation intended for external use only, on the skin.
- Avoid contact of the gel with the eyes and mucous membranes.
- Do not use the preparation on the damaged surface of the skin.
- An occlusive dressing should not be used.
- Systemic side effects are possible with long-term or large-area application of the skin or concomitant use of oral NSAIDs.
- It is not recommended to use the preparation for a long time on large areas of the skin.
- Propylene glycol contained in the preparation may irritate the skin.
- Voltenac gel is not recommended for use in children under 12 years of age.
- Pregnant women (especially in the third trimester) and breastfeeding women should not use the preparation due to the lack of information on safety during use.
Voltenac with other medications
Interactions with other medications are unlikely to occur when Voltenac gel is applied topically to the skin.
Voltenac – side effects
While using Voltenac
- The following may occur: Mild and transient skin symptoms at the application site (rash, eczema, erythema, dermatitis [including contact dermatitis]).
- Very rare: lumpy rash, hypersensitivity, angioedema, asthma, photosensitivity reactions.
