Voltaren (suppositories, 50 mg tablets) is a preparation of general action containing a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It is indicated for use in the case of inflammatory or degenerative rheumatic disease (e.g. arthritis of the spine, pain associated with changes in the spine, acute attack of gout, inflammation in gynecology or postoperative pain). The active substance is dicoflenac. Voltaren is available in the form of rectal suppositories and prescription gastro-resistant tablets.

Voltaren (suppositories, tablets 50 mg) – indications for use

Voltaren (suppositories, tablets) is recommended for taking in the case of inflammatory and degenerative rheumatic disease:

  1. rheumatoid arthritis (RA),
  2. juvenile RA – Still’s disease,
  3. ankylosing spondylitis,
  4. osteoarthritis,
  5. arthritis of the spine,
  6. pain associated with changes in the spine,
  7. extra-articular rheumatism,

and:

  1. in case of a gout attack,
  2. in gynecological pain and inflammation (e.g. inflammation of the appendages),
  3. in pain caused by post-traumatic and postoperative inflammation and edema, e.g. after dental or orthopedic procedures,
  4. as support in painful inflammation of the ear, nose and throat (e.g. tonsils),
  5. during painful menstruation,
  6. in the case of migraine.

Voltaren (suppositories, tablets) and contraindications to use

Contraindication to the use of the drug Voltaren in the form of suppositories, tablets are:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. active gastric and / or duodenal ulcer disease, or in the history of
  3. bleeding or perforation (also related to previous NSAID use)
  4. recurrent ulcer and / or haemorrhage (occurrence of> = 2 separate cases of proven ulceration or bleeding),
  5. severe liver, kidney and heart failure,
  6. III trimester of pregnancy,
  7. the period of breastfeeding,
  8. suppositories: also proctitis or proctitis,
  9. the occurrence of an attack of asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis after administration of acetylsalicylic acid or other drugs inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis.

Voltaren (suppositories, 50 mg tablets) – dosage

Voltaren is a drug intended to be taken orally (the tablets should be swallowed whole, preferably before a meal) and administered rectally (after a bowel movement).

adults

  1. Initially 100-150 mg / day in 2-3 divided doses, in milder cases and in long-term treatment 75-100 mg / day in 2-3 divided doses. suppository at bedtime (not using a dose> 150 mg / day).

Adolescents and children after 1 year of age with juvenile RA

  1. 0,5-2 mg / kg body weight / day in 2-3 divided doses; the dose can be increased up to a maximum of 3 mg / kg body weight / day in divided doses (max. 150 mg / day); only use table enteric 50 mg or suppositories at a dose of 25 mg.

Pain caused by post-traumatic and postoperative inflammation and edema, e.g. after dental or orthopedic procedures. As an aid in severe painful inflammation of the ear, nose or throat, e.g. pharyngitis and tonsillitis, otitis media. Rectally or orally.

  1. Adults. Initially 100-150 mg / day in 2-3 divided doses, in milder cases and in long-term treatment 75-100 mg / day in 2-3 divided doses.
  2. Youth and children 12.-16. years of age (45-50 kg body weight). 25 mg 3-4 × / day.
  3. Children 9-11. year of age (35-44 kg body weight) 25 mg three times / day; should be used up to 3 days in the form of suppositories at a dose of 4 mg.

Spontaneous painful menstruation.

  1. Rectally or orally, usually 50-150 mg / day. Initially 50-100 mg / day, if necessary, the dose can be increased over several menstrual cycles to a maximum of 200 mg / day.

Migraine attacks.

  1. Rectally, initially 100 mg at the first signs of a seizure. If necessary, additional suppositories can be used on the same day in a dose of up to 100 mg. If the patient requires further treatment in the following days, the maximum dose should be limited to 150 mg / day in divided doses
