The history of Danzka vodka

In 1840, Danish Distillers was born in Denmark, which owned 2 Aalborg distilleries. In 1872, they merged into 1 plant, and after 9 years they already owned a large part of the alcohol market. This led to a reduction in the number of wineries and distilleries: by 1923, out of 2,5 thousand Danish distilleries, only 10 remained. Danish Distillers also acquired them. The company later changed its name to Danish Distillers Ltd.

Until the 1970s, Danish Distillers had a monopoly in the production of methyl and yeast alcohols. In 1973, Denmark became a member of the European Union, and the monopolies came to naught. Now alcohol is supplied to 140 countries.

In the 1980s, Vinhuset Norden began to think about creating the perfect Danish vodka, both internally and externally. The owner of the company, Thomas Anton, liked the idea, and the development of vodka began. The first fruits were introduced to the market already in 1989.

Let’s get back to Danish Distillers. The company soon acquired Vinhuset Norden. This brought a lot of benefits, because Danzka vodka was in demand not only among the Danes, but also among other Europeans, Koreans, Americans, Vietnamese and other representatives of various nations.

Then the Danzka brand was acquired by the French company Belvedere. In 2013, it was bought by the 4th generation German family business Waldemar Behn GmbH. Now the headquarters of the brand is located on the Baltic Sea in the former territory of Denmark.
