Vitamin E Medana drops is a drug recommended for taking:

  1. in the treatment of vitamin deficiencies E in the case of long-term improper nutrition and lipid metabolism disorders,
  2. supporting diseases of etiology associated with the increased production of free radicals, e.g. atherosclerosis and ischemic heart disease.

Dosage of the preparation

Vitamin E Medana drops are drops to be taken orally.

  1. Adults and children over 15 years of age. Prophylactically 3 drops / day, in cystic fibrosis 100-200 mg / day, in abetalipoproteinemia 50-100 mg / kg / day.
  2. For prophylaxis in children 7-15. 2 drops / day in children under 6 years of age, 1 drop / day in children up to XNUMX years of age.
  3. In cystic fibrosis in children under 1 year of age. 50 mg / d, after 1 year of age 100 mg / d. In abetalipoproteinemia 50-100 mg / kg bw / day.
  4. In chronic cholestasis in children under 2 years of age, 150-200 mg / kg / day.
  5. In other states of vitamin deficiency E individual dosing.

Contraindications to the use of Vitamin E Medana drops are:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. vitamin deficiency K.

Vitamin E Medana drops – warnings

  1. Do not use Vitaminum E Medana drops in combination with other preparations containing vitamin E due to the possibility of overdosing.
  2. The drops should be used with caution in patients taking oral anticoagulants (monitor prothrombin time) or estrogens.
  3. Vitamin E may increase the risk of thrombosis in patients with risk factors (metabolic, cardiovascular, hormonal), especially in users of oestrogens (e.g. oral contraceptives containing oestrogens).
  4. When taking high doses of vitamin E, the need for vitamin K may be increased. The simultaneous use of these vitamins requires extreme caution.
  5. Peanut oil contained in Vitamin E Medana drops may contain peanut protein.
  6. It is not recommended to use the preparation during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Taking the preparation during pregnancy may only take place after consulting a doctor and only if absolutely necessary, when, in the doctor’s opinion, the benefit for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Vitaminum E Medana drops with other substances

  1. Vitamin E may have an antagonistic effect on vitamin K, especially when combined with oral anticoagulants.
  2. Vitamin E may enhance the effect of oral anticoagulants (coumarin and indandion derivatives) and increase the risk of haemorrhage.
  3. Iron preparations can weaken the effect of vitamin E, so it is recommended to take these drugs several hours apart.
  4. Cholestyramine and colestipol may reduce the absorption of vitamin E.
  5. Vitamin E may increase the absorption, storage and use of vitamin A, and may reduce the need for insulin and cardiac glycosides.
  6. In patients using oestrogens, vitamin E may increase the risk of thrombosis.

Vitamin E Medana drops – side effects

No side effects were observed when using Vitaminum E Medana drops in recommended doses.

The use of high doses (over 800 mg daily) can cause:

  1. fatigue,
  2. weakness,
  3. headaches,
  4. nausea,
  5. diarrhea
  6. flatulence
  7. rash
  8. visual acuity disorders.
