Vitamin E GSK is used to treat vitamin deficiency. E caused by long-term improper nutrition and metabolic disorders. Incidentally, in atherosclerosis, ischemic heart disease and its secondary prophylaxis and other diseases of etiology related to oxidative stress.

Vitaminum E GSK – indications and dosage

Vitamin E GSK is recommended for taking:

  1. in the treatment of vitamin E deficiency caused by long-term improper nutrition and metabolic disorders,
  2. auxiliary in atherosclerosis,
  3. in ischemic heart disease and its secondary prophylaxis and other diseases of etiology related to oxidative stress.

Dosage

Vitaminum E GSK is in the form of soft capsules to be taken orally.

  1. Usually 1 kaps./d.

Vitaminum E GSK and contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Vitamin E GSK are:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. hypervitaminosis E,
  3. fat malabsorption syndrome,
  4. hypoprothrombinemia due to vitamin K deficiency.

Vitaminum E GSK – warnings

  1. Vitaminum E GSK should not be used in combination with other preparations containing vitamin E due to the possibility of overdosing.
  2. Vitamin E GSK should be used with caution in states of vitamin K deficiency and in people taking concomitant oral anticoagulants or estrogens.
  3. People with impaired kidney and / or liver function should consult a doctor before starting the use of the drug.
  4. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking the preparation.

Vitaminum E GSK and other substances

  1. Oral cholestyramine or colestipol, mineral oils, or neomycin may reduce the absorption of vitamin E.
  2. Vitamin E may increase the effects of oral anticoagulants (coumarin and indanedione derivatives) and increase the risk of haemorrhage.
  3. Simultaneous intake of vitamin E with iron preparations may inhibit their effect.
  4. Vitamin E acts antagonistically to vitamin K, and synergistically with selenium preparations (selenium preparations and vitamin E mutually enhance their effect).
  5. Vitamin E may increase the absorption, storage and use of vitamin A in the body, as well as protect against hypervitaminosis A.

Vitaminum E GSK – side effects

No side effects were observed during the use of Vitaminum E GSK in the recommended doses.

During long-term use of high doses (over 300 mg per day), the following may occur: fatigue, weakness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, flatulence, rash, visual disturbance, thrombophlebitis, headache, rash, gonadal dysfunction, breast pain, creatinuria, increased levels of creatinine kinase, cholesterol and triglycerides, and decreased levels of thyroxine and serum triiodothyronine, increase in the concentration of estrogens and androgens in the urine. The drug may cause allergic reactions.
