And yet, a study by the Spanish Cancer Research Center, published in Journal of the National Cancer Instituteseems to confirm this. Dr. Nuria Maletas and his colleagues focused on bladder cancerwhich is an epidemic disease in Spain. They invited 2 people to participate in their research. The group was divided into half – one was treated for bladder cancer, the other was a control group. Scientists used with a standard blood test towards vitamin D in the form of 25 (OH) D. This test measures the active form of vitamin D3 produced by the kidneys. They found that 1 bladder cancer patients had blood levels of this vitamin lower than the control group. Scientists estimate that low vitamin D3 levels doubles the risk of developing bladder cancer. But that’s not all – scientists have also identified a group with the most aggressive cancer. They found that the risk of bladder cancer in humans was 6 times higher with low levels of vitamin D3.
