Vitaminum C TEVA is a preparation used in the prevention and supplementation of vitamin deficiency. C during periods of convalescence after infectious diseases and wound healing after burns, and in smokers. Incidentally in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia, inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes of the respiratory, digestive and urinary systems.

Vitaminum C TEVA – indications and dosage

Vitaminum C TEVA is recommended for:

  1. in the prevention and supplementation of vitamin C deficiency during the convalescence period after infectious diseases and healing wounds after burns,
  2. in smokers,
  3. auxiliary in the treatment of iron deficiency anemia,
  4. in inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes of the respiratory, digestive and urinary systems.

Dosage

Vitaminum C TEVA is in the form of tablets to be taken orally. The preparation should be taken with meals.

  1. Adults: prophylactically 100 mg / day, as an adjunct in treatment 100-500 mg / day.
  2. Children after 5 years of age: as an auxiliary in treatment 100-200 mg / d.

Vitaminum C TEVA and contraindications

Contraindication to the use of Vitamin C TEVA is:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the drug,
  2. Do not administer doses> 1 g / day to people with urolithiasis or excessive renal excretion of oxalate.

Vitaminum C TEVA – restrictions

  1. Ascorbic acid causes increased iron absorption, therefore caution should be exercised in patients with sideroblastic anemia, thalassemia or haemochromatosis.
  2. In people with a deficiency of blood glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, long-term administration of Vitamin C TEVA may cause haemolytic anemia.
  3. In patients with urolithiasis, the long-term use of high doses of ascorbic acid may cause kidney deposits.
  4. At least 1 day before blood, urine and stool laboratory tests are performed, the preparation should be discontinued due to the risk of false test results.
  5. In people with diabetes, high doses of vitamin C may affect the results of measuring glucose (sugar) in the urine.
  6. Ascorbic acid, when used in therapeutic doses, may cause false-negative blood measurements in the stool.
  7. Long-term use of high doses of vitamin C may cause symptoms of poisoning (difficult and painful urination, haematuria).
  8. Vitaminum C TEVA should not be used by people with hereditary disorders of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or malabsorption of glucose-galactose.
  9. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult a doctor before taking the drug.
  10. During pregnancy, doses of ascorbic acid in excess of the daily requirement for pregnant women (100 mg per day) should not be used due to the risk of avitaminosis in newborns.
  11. Breastfeeding women should exercise caution when taking vitamin C.

Vitaminum C TEVA with other drugs

  1. Vitamin C causes increased iron absorption.
  2. High doses of acetylsalicylic acid reduce the concentration of ascorbic acid in the blood, while ascorbic acid reduces the excretion of acetylsalicylic acid.
  3. Ascorbic acid increases the rate of elimination of tricyclic antidepressants and amphetamines, reduces the effectiveness of phenothiazines and aminoglycosides, and increases the concentration of estrogens in the blood.

Vitaminum C TEVA – side effects

High doses of Vitaminum C TEVA may cause:

  1. nausea,
  2. vomiting,
  3. diarrhea
  4. heartburn
  5. skin rashes
  6. Headache,
  7. increased urine output,
  8. long-term use of high doses may cause the accumulation of urate and cystine stones, especially in patients with stones in the urinary tract or undergoing hemodialysis.
