Vitaminum C capsules is a preparation used in vitamin C deficiency and its prevention, anemia, burns, inflammation of the skin, mucous membranes, respiratory system, digestive tract, nervous system, allergies, urinary tract infections, collagenosis, convalescence and a diet low in vitamins. C.

Vitaminum C capsules – indications and dosage

Vitaminum C capsules are the recommended preparation:

  1. in vitamin C deficiency and its prevention,
  2. in anemia,
  3. in burns,
  4. in inflammation of the skin, mucous membranes, respiratory system, digestive tract and nervous system,
  5. in allergic conditions,
  6. in urinary tract infection,
  7. in collagenosis,
  8. in convalescence,
  9. in the case of a diet low in vitamin C.

Drug dosage

Adults: preventive 0,5 g / d (1 capsule / day) and therapeutically 0,5–1,0 g / d (1-2 capsules / day).

Vitaminum C capsules and contraindications

Use the drug with caution Vitamin C capsules with increased excretion of urates and cystinates (risk of kidney stones).

Vitaminum C capsules – warnings

  1. Ascorbic acid increases the effect and toxicity of oral anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin) and sulfonamides, increasing the risk of crystalluria (excretion of crystals in the urine).
  2. Ascorbic acid may have an effect on laboratory tests of blood, urine and stools.
  3. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a physician before taking Vitamin C capsules.
  4. During pregnancy, doses of ascorbic acid in excess of the daily requirement for pregnant women (100 mg per day) should not be taken due to the risk of avitaminosis in newborns.
  5. Caution is advised when administering vitamin C to breastfeeding women.

Vitamin C capsules with other drugs

Vitamin C:

  1. causes increased iron absorption,
  2. works synergistically with flavone glycosides (vitamin C and flavone glycosides mutually enhance their effects),
  3. enhances the effect of anticoagulants.

High doses of acetylsalicylic acid reduce the concentration of ascorbic acid in platelets and plasma.

Vitamin C capsules – side effects

High doses of Vitaminum C capsules may cause the deposition of calcium oxalate stones in the urinary tract.
