Vitamin C 1000 Pliva is recommended in:

Dosage
Vitamin C 1000 Pliva is in the form of effervescent tablets. The supplement is intended for oral administration.
- Adults and adolescents after 12 years of age after dissolving 1 tablet / day in a glass of water.
Vitamin C 1000 Pliva and contraindications
Contraindications to the use of Vitamin C 1000 Pliva are:
- hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
- phenylketonuria (contains aspartame),
- do not use in children under 12 years of age,
- high doses of vitamin should not be used. C (> 1 g / d) in people with nephrolithiasis (oxalate) and in disorders of iron metabolism.
Vitamin C 1000 Pliva – warnings
- Ascorbic acid causes increased iron absorption.
- Caution should be exercised in people suffering from sideroblastic anemia, thalassemia, diabetes mellitus, hyperoxaluria, haemochromatosis, or in people with a tendency to build up mineral deposits in the urinary tract.
- In patients with deficiency of blood glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, long-term administration of Vitamin C 1000 Pliva may cause haemolytic anemia.
- Vitamin C 1000 Pliva can falsify laboratory tests for blood, urine and feces.
- In people with diabetes, high doses of vitamin C may affect the results of measuring glucose (sugar) in the urine.
- Ascorbic acid, taken in therapeutic doses, may cause false-negative blood measurements in the stool.
- 1 tablet of the drug contains sodium in the amount of 205 mg (orange-flavored tablets) or 227 mg (lemon-flavored tablets), which should be taken into account in patients on a low-sodium diet.
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women should not use the preparation.
Vitamin C 1000 Pliva with other substances
- Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron.
- Consumption of large doses of vitamin C causes acidification of the urine, which reduces the excretion of acidic drugs, and increases the excretion of alkaline drugs.
- Concomitant administration of sulfonamides may cause the precipitation of sulfonamide crystals in the urine.
- The concentration of vitamin C in the blood reduces heavy smoking.
Vitamin C 1000 Pliva – side effects
Vitamin C 1000 Pliva may cause the following side effects.
- High doses of Vitamin C 1000 Pliva (more than 1 g per day) may cause diarrhea.
- Long-term use of high doses may cause the deposition of oxalate, urate and cystine stones, as well as cause headache, reddening of the skin and a diuretic effect.
