Vitamin B6 PLIVA

The preparation is used in the treatment and prevention of B6 hypovitaminosis, acrodynia, radiation sickness, dermatitis and mucosal inflammation, isoniazid-induced polyneuritis, as an aid in microcytic anemia, leukopenia, nausea and vomiting in pregnant women.

INDICATIONS AND DOSAGE

Treatment and prophylaxis of B6 hypovitaminosis, acrodynia, radiation sickness, inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes, isoniazid-induced polyneuritis, adjuvant in microcytic anemia, leukopenia, nausea and vomiting in pregnant women. Adults. Orally. 1-2 tablets 3 × / d. In severe malabsorption or severe symptoms, im 50–200 mg / day. Kids. Preventive: up to 12 months of age 0,3–0,5 mg / kg bw / day; 2nd – 18th 1 mg / kg b.w./d. Therapeutically, from 4 months to 18 years of age, im 25–150 mg / d in 2–3 doses. division

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Hypersensitivity to vitamin B6, Parkinson’s disease treated with levodopa preparations without a dopa-decarboxylase inhibitor.

WARNINGS

The preparation contains sucrose and lactose. People with intolerance to certain sugars should consult a doctor before using the preparation. Exposure to light should be avoided during treatment. Before using the preparation in pregnant women or during breastfeeding, a doctor should be consulted; vitamin B6 may inhibit lactation.

INTERACTIONS

Vitamin B6 reduces the effectiveness of levodopa when used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease. Concomitant use of vitamin B6 with amiodarone may cause photosensitization. Hormonal contraceptives, estrogens, hydralazine, amiodarone, cycloserine, corticosteroids, corticotropin, penicillamine, and high doses of isoniazid increase the urinary excretion of vitamin B6 and increase the body’s need for this vitamin.

SIDE EFFECTS

Long-term use of high doses of vitamin B6 (greater than 2 g daily for at least 2 months) may lead to severe peripheral neuropathy.
