Academician, Nobel laureate Vitaly Ginzburg, who recently passed away, was one of the few scientists who defended his atheistic worldview. The second, updated edition of his book includes ten articles written by the academician at the turn of the century, as well as interviews and open letters. The titles of the articles («Science and Religion in the Modern World», «To Teach or Preach», «The Banner Bearers Against Ginzburg») speak for themselves. The author defends the secular nature of school education, warns about the danger of revision of Darwinism, fights against pseudoscience and superstitions. “I believe that atheism is not connected with the fight against religion,” emphasized the Nobel laureate. “There is no need to fight against it at all, the business of atheists is to explain and enlighten…” Such an honest and principled position cannot but arouse respect.
