The lawn mower market is filled with big-name lawn mowers. The consumer can choose the unit according to the desired parameters. Among this variety, the Viking petrol lawn mower, assembled in Austria, has not been lost. Now there has been a merger of this brand with the well-known corporation STIHL. Viking presented to the consumer a model range of 8 series, including more than 40 varieties of lawn mowers.
What the Viking brand offers to the consumer
The Viking brand is more specialized in equipment designed for mowing grass. In particular, these are lawn mowers with a gasoline and electric engine. The manufacturer produces more than 40 types of such machines. You can find out the type of engine by the letter designation:
- E – electric motor;
- B – gasoline engine.
If the marking additionally contains the letter M, then the unit has a mulching function.
Petrol mowers
The Viking range of petrol lawn mowers is the largest. It includes units for processing large and small areas, mulching, machines for special, as well as professional purposes. In each class there are models of different series, differing in their characteristics and performance.
The main components of the gasoline unit
The device of Viking gasoline mowers is practically no different from analogues of another brand. The basis is the frame where the wheels are installed. The body is made of metal resistant to corrosion and mechanical stress. Depending on the model, the mower can be equipped with a rear wheel drive. A cutting mechanism in the form of a two-bladed knife is installed under the body. Its design is different, depending on the purpose of the lawn mower:
- models for mulching are equipped with an even knife;
- units with a grass catcher have a knife with wrapped edges, with the help of which mowed vegetation is thrown into the basket.
A motor is installed on top of the body of the gasoline mower. Communication with the cutting mechanism provides a direct drive. The engine on the body is open without a protective cover. Such a device helps to provide optimal air cooling.
The control of the gasoline unit is carried out by the handle. For convenience, it is equipped with an adjustment so that the operator can adjust it to his height. The collection of mowed vegetation takes place in the grass catcher. The more productive the machine, the more spacious the basket. Each grass catcher is equipped with a fullness indicator.
There are universal models of gasoline mowers with a grass collector and a mulching function. For normal grass mowing, the unit is used with a basket. When mulching is to be done, the grass catcher is removed and the outlet for grass flying out is closed with a plug.

The range of gasoline lawn mowers is extensive, so we will briefly consider the brightest representatives:
- Lawn mowers for small and medium-sized cultivated areas are represented by a class that includes three series. Each model has different characteristics, but they all have the same performance. The units are designed to care for a lawn area of 1,2 km2. Here you can select models: mb 248, mb 248 t, mb 253, mb 253 t.

- Viking gasoline mowers, designed for the care of large lawns, belong to the sixth series. The units are characterized by high performance, as well as increased dimensions. By design, they are similar to the models of the second or fourth series. Prominent representatives are: MB640T, MB650V, MB655GS, MB650VS, MV650VE MB655V, MB655G.
- Lawn mowers with a mulching function were introduced by Viking as models without a grass collector. This unit differs from its counterparts. This series includes models: MB2R, MB2RT MB3RT, MB3RTX MB4R, MB4RT, MB4RTP.
- The special purpose lawn mower is represented by one model – MB6RH. The design feature is three wheels instead of the traditional four pieces. Thanks to this device, the unit is able to mow high vegetation.
- There is a professional model in the collection of Viking lawn mowers, but only one. Although it is presented to the consumer in three versions: MB756GS MB756YS MB756YC.

The device of Viking electric lawn mowers
The main difference between these units is that the electric lawn mower has an electric motor instead of an internal combustion engine. For its operation, you need a connection to the mains, so a cable will constantly be dragged behind the machine. The case of electric models is made of plastic. Typically, such units are low-power and are designed for mowing small lawns near the house.
Let’s look at a few representatives of the electric mower range:
- ME 235 – designed for mowing small lawns. It is characterized by compact dimensions, as well as a light weight of about 13 kg. The shape of the deck allows you to remove vegetation around the flower beds.
- ME 339 is practically an analogue of the previous model. The mower differs in a larger working width, as well as the presence of a mulching function.
- ME 443 – has a working width of up to 41 cm. The electric mower is able to process a plot of 6 acres. Comes with a mulching mechanism.
- ME 360 is a conventional electric lawnmower with a height-adjustable cutting height. The model is designed to process a plot of up to 3 acres.
- ME 545 is the most powerful representative of electric mowers. The unit is able to process a plot of up to 8 acres. The grass catcher is designed for 60 liters. There is a mulching function.
The big plus of all electric lawn mowers is their quiet operation and the absence of exhaust fumes.
