Viburnum tincture: 8 recipes at home

The tart fruits of viburnum have long been used to make fruit drinks, jams, wines, liqueurs, bitter and sweet tinctures. Due to the high content of vitamins and microelements in bright red fruits, drinks from them are not only aromatic, but also healthy.

Tips before starting

  1. As an alcohol base, you can use vodka or moonshine (alcohol). In the first case, the drink will turn out to be softer and more pleasant in taste, in the second, it will have a maximum of healing properties due to a more intense extract from the fruit.

  2. If you want to make a tart tincture, collect viburnum (preferably wild) in September, immediately after aging. If you prepare the berry later – after the first frost, it will get rid of bitterness and a specific aftertaste, and the drink itself will turn out to be more tender.

  3. You can use raw materials from the freezer, after letting it thaw, or dried (dried) fruits in the oven.

  4. Before infusion, the viburnum is cleaned of twigs and washed, but not crushed (unless otherwise specified in the recipe).

A simple recipe for viburnum tincture

For medicinal purposes, the berry aged in alcohol can be suppressed, and the squeezed juice can be added to the finished drink for greater concentration. To soften the taste, you can sweeten the raw material by mixing berries with sugar (200 g), or add honey (1 tablespoon) to the infusion. With the help of oak chips fried in a frying pan (1 tablespoon), cognac notes are added to the drink (added to fruits before infusion).

Ingredients

  1. Viburnum fruits – 500 g

  2. Vodka – 500 ml

Method of preparation

  1. Put the berries in a liter glass jar, pour vodka.

  2. Close the container with a lid, let it brew in a dark, cool place for up to 3-4 weeks.

  3. Strain the infusion, taste.

Recipe for viburnum tincture with syrup

Ingredients

  1. Water – 200 ml

  2. Sugars – 150 g

  3. Viburnum fruits – 500 g

  4. Vodka – 500 ml

Method of preparation

  1. Put the fruits in a glass container.

  2. Boil a thick syrup of water and sugar, let it cool down a bit, pour it over a berry.

  3. Fill the remaining space in the jar with vodka, mix well.

  4. Infuse the mass in the dark for 1 month.

  5. Filter the drink through gauze, sweeten to taste, let rest for 3-4 days.

Recipe for viburnum tincture with spices

Ingredients

  1. Viburnum berries – 300 g

  2. Sugars – 200 g

  3. Vodka – 1 l

  4. Star anise – 1-2 stars

  5. Allspice (pink) – 5-7 peas

  6. Anise – a pinch

Method of preparation

  1. Put fruits, spices and sugar in a 2-liter container.

  2. Let the mixture brew for 3-4 days until the juice appears.

  3. Pour the mass with alcohol, close the lid.

  4. Keep for 1 month, strain.

Recipe for viburnum-quince tincture

You can use apples instead of quince, and frozen ones instead of fresh berries. The finished tincture is clarified with squeezed lemon juice.

Ingredients

  1. Viburnum berries – 250 g

  2. Quince fruits – 250 g

  3. Honey – 200 g

  4. Vodka – 700 ml

Method of preparation

  1. Cut quince fruits into quarters, remove seeds.

  2. Pour viburnum into a jar, mash until juice appears.

  3. Add chopped quince to the berry mass, pour vodka over the mass.

  4. Let the mixture brew for 2 weeks in the light, add honey, mix well.

  5. Keep the drink for another 7 days, regularly shaking the container.

  6. Filter the infusion twice through gauze, pour into a bottle, place in the cold for storage.

Recipe for viburnum-sea buckthorn tincture

By analogy, a drink is prepared with berries of bird cherry, chokeberry, blackcurrant, raspberry (you can use several types at once). In addition to pepper, other spices can be used for flavoring: cloves, star anise, anise.

Ingredients

  1. Viburnum berries – 150 g

  2. Sea buckthorn fruits – 150 g

  3. Vodka – 500 ml

  4. Black peppercorns – 20 g

  5. Honey – 1 Art. l

Method of preparation

  1. Dry the washed fruits of viburnum and sea buckthorn a little in the sun.

  2. Pour the berries into a jar, pour vodka, close the lid.

  3. Keep the mixture for 7 days in the dark.

  4. Add honey and spices to the drink, leave for another 1 week, filter.

Recipe for viburnum tincture on cognac with honey

The drink can be taken in 1 tbsp. l. 10 minutes before meals to stabilize pressure, improve digestion, eliminate swelling.

Ingredients

  1. Viburnum berries – 2 kg

  2. Cognac – 500 ml

  3. Spring water – 1,5 l

  4. Honey liquid / melted – 500 g

Method of preparation

  1. Put the fruits in a jar, pour cognac.

  2. Add honey and water to the berry mass, mix.

  3. Cork a jar, leave in a dark place for 5-6 weeks, strain.

Recipe for tincture on viburnum juice

Ingredients

  1. Fresh viburnum juice – 400 ml

  2. Alcohol – 1 l

  3. Sugars – 300 g

  4. Water – 400 ml

Method of preparation

  1. Heat the water in a saucepan, dissolve the sugar in it, after boiling, cook the syrup for 5-7 minutes.

  2. Pour the sweet liquid into a glass container, add viburnum juice and alcohol, mix thoroughly.

  3. Close the container tightly, let the mixture brew for 3-4 weeks at room temperature, strain.

Currant Kalinovka Recipe

Ingredients

  1. Viburnum berries – 200 pcs.

  2. Currant leaves – 100 pcs.

  3. Vodka – ½ l

  4. Sugar – 1 glass

  5. Water – 1 glasses

Method of preparation

  1. From 1 st. sugar and 1 tbsp. water to boil the syrup.

  2. Boil the leaves in water for 5-7 minutes, strain.

  3. Ceil the berries, mix with sugar syrup and currant broth, pour vodka.

  4. Cork the container, leave in the cold for 30 days.
