Verrumal is a medicine intended for topical application to the skin. Its task is to inhibit the growth of warts and have a keratolytic effect.
Verrumal – properties
The active substances in Verrumal are fluorouracil and salicylic acid. Salicylic acid easily penetrates the skin, has a keratolytic effect (dissolves the callous layer of the epidermis), thanks to which fluorouracil penetrates deep into and inhibits the multiplication of viruses that cause warts.
Verrumal – application
Verrumal is designed to be applied to regular, flat and foot warts.
Verrumal – contraindications
Verrumal for warts cannot be used in several cases:
- if you are hypersensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients of the preparation,
- use in parallel with the nucleoside analogues, brivudine and sorivudin (they are strong inhibitors of the enzyme that breaks down fluorouracil),
- during pregnancy and breastfeeding,
- kidney failure
- in children under 6 years of age.
Verrumal – precautions
Verrumal should not be used in the area of mucous membranes and eyes. The preparation should be applied directly to the nipples, avoiding contact with the skin, especially where the epidermis is very thin. During application, avoid staining of clothes or acrylic products, as extremely difficult to remove stains may appear. Also avoid contact with fire – the preparation is flammable.
Verrumal – dosage
Verrumal is dosed externally with the brush provided. For safety, the skin around the nipple can be smeared with cream or ointment. The preparation should be applied to each wart 2-3 times a day. Before use, the coating from the previous treatment should be removed. During application, particular care should be taken in the case of periungual and subungual warts so that the nail matrix is not damaged and the preparation does not get into its bed. At one time, an area of up to 25 cm2 of skin may be treated. Before using on warts prone to severe keratosis, treatment with salicylic acid patches should first be carried out. The recommended duration of use is 6 weeks, and after the lesions have disappeared, Verrumal should be used for a week.
Verrumal – side effects
When using the preparation, side effects may occur, such as the appearance of inflammation on the skin, hypersensitivity to sunlight, skin irritation, erosions, the appearance of scabs and bleeding at the site of application, and headaches. In rare cases, dryness and itching of the eye, swelling of the skin and even ulceration appear.

As the price of Verrumal is affordable, anyone can try to heal warts at home without visiting a beauty salon. You can find out about the effectiveness of the preparation by reading the opinions about the Verrumal preparation found on the Internet. You can also consult your GP or dermatologist.
