Verliok’s tomato: description
The main criterion when choosing a tomato variety is its yield. It is for this reason that the Verlioka tomato is so popular among summer residents – the yield from 1 m² with proper care reaches up to 20 kg of fruits.
Description of the tomato “Verlioka”
“Verlioka” is an early ripening crop intended for planting in a greenhouse. Already 3 months after planting, the first fruits can be harvested. Tomatoes grow in clusters of 6-10 fruits and, during ripening, almost completely cover the foliage. Fruit weight – from 60 to 100 g, rounded shape with red smooth skin, which has a characteristic gloss.
The fruits of the Verlioka tomato have a sweetish taste with a slight sourness.
The tomato belongs to the determinant varieties – the growth of the stem stops after a certain number of inflorescences. To increase productivity, after the appearance of the fourth inflorescence, the top is removed, the stem continues to grow from the lateral shoot. Plant height reaches 1,5-2 m.
Advantages of the variety:
- rapid ripening of fruits;
- high yield;
- disease resistance;
- easily tolerates temperature changes;
- good transportability of fruits.
Reviews of gardeners about the Verlioka tomato indicate that, despite its beautiful presentation, the tomato has a watery pulp with a low density, which makes it impossible to store it for a long time.
Tips for growing Verlioka tomato
Tomato is grown from seedlings that take root well in fertile loose soil. To get the maximum yield, you should adhere to several rules:
- tomato is not recommended to be grown on land where peppers, potatoes or eggplants grew;
- seedlings feel good after zucchini, legumes, carrots and cucumbers;
- in the fall, they dig up the earth and fertilize with humus or bird droppings;
- spring feeding is not done – this will prevent the formation of ovaries;
- seedling density should not exceed 9 bushes per 1 m².
After planting, the seedlings are abundantly watered with 5-6 liters of water each bush and mulch the soil to prevent moisture evaporation. Subsequent watering is carried out as needed in the evening hours. The best option is to use a drip irrigation system – this allows for high-quality irrigation with simultaneous fertilization in liquid form.
As can be seen from the description of the Verlioka tomato, for the correct growth of the plant and obtaining a high yield, timely removal of excess shoots during the period of their growth is required. Seedlings are formed into 1-2 stems, on each of which a couple of inflorescences are left. When pinching, be sure to leave two leaves near each inflorescence.
Due to its unpretentious care and high resistance to diseases, tomato has become widespread in regions with a harsh climate. The fruits are consumed fresh for making salads, sauces and juice, and the small size of tomatoes allows them to be preserved in a small container.
