Among gardeners, the Veles grapes are famous for their ability to give a double harvest every year. However, this effect can only be achieved when the correct planting and care of the plant is carried out.

Description of the vineyard “Veles”

“Veles” refers to seedless table varieties. The bushes of the plant are vigorous. The flowers are self-pollinated. The bunches are large, have a canonical shape. The pink berries tolerate transportation well and are stored for a long time. If the harvest is delayed, the fruits do not crumble.

Veles grapes with proper care ripens twice a year

The digital characteristics of grapes include:

  • maximum bunch weight – 2500 g;
  • berry weight – 5 g;
  • yield from one bush – 15 kg;
  • the maximum load of the bush is 35 eyes.

The ripening period is 100 days. The variety is early maturing and frost resistant.

In order for the grapes to please with a good harvest, you should choose a sunny, windless place for it. It is necessary to maintain a distance of at least 1,5 meters between the bushes. Grapes are planted in the spring, but a hole is dug in the fall. This is done so that the soil has time to settle.

When landing, follow the following algorithm:

  1. Prepare a hole 1 meter deep and 0,6 meters in diameter.
  2. Lay a layer of gravel and sand drainage on the bottom.
  3. Add a layer of planting soil.
  4. Lower the seedling into the hole so that the root collar rises slightly above the soil.
  5. Fill the hole with the rest of the soil.

After the procedure, it is necessary to water the seedlings abundantly.

Regular hydration is the basis for caring for any plant. Bushes need abundant watering during bud break, flowering and fruit ripening. In a drought, the plant needs additional moisture. When watering, you should remember about the measure, otherwise the berries may crack.

For the first three years, the seedling needs frequent feeding, which is usually combined with moisture. Mature shrubs are fertilized every season. The only exception is the winter period.

Pruning is an important part of grape care. Dried, diseased and unripe shoots are removed. In addition, you should cut off excess eyes, leaving no more than 6 pieces on the vine. The variety needs shelter. Therefore, in the fall, the bushes are pressed to the ground, covered with soil and straw. Some gardeners use spruce branches and humus for shelter.

If you want to get a good harvest of berries with excellent commercial characteristics every year, then feel free to choose the Veles grape variety. However, remember that in order to achieve a good result, you must follow the above rules for growing a plant.
