Velaxin comes in the form of tablets. It is used in patients with anxiety disorders, social phobia or depression.
When should I use Velaxin?
Velaxin is mainly used in cases of depressive episodes, in the prevention of depression, in anxiety, when the patient suffers from social phobia and when the patient has panic attacks.
How to dose Velaxin?
Velaxin is in the form of tablets taken orally. The appropriate dose and frequency of dosing of the drug is adjusted by the physician to the patient’s disease, in an individual manner. The tablet should be taken with a meal with plenty of water. Typically patients will take one tablet a day, always at the same time.
Each disorder is treated with different doses. Do not stop using the drug abruptly and suddenly, and discontinue it by systematically reducing the dose.
The substance is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
Who should not use Velaxin?
The drug should not be used by people who are allergic to any of the ingredients of the product. It should also not be taken by breastfeeding women and children under 18 years of age.
Velaxin and other drugs
Velaxin should not be combined with certain substances because they may weaken the effect of Velaxin or cause serious side effects. Before prescribing this medication, please inform your physician of any medication you are taking or any medications that you are about to start dosing.
Velaxin and pregnant women
So far, no negative effect of Velaxin on the fetus has been found, but before using the drug, consult your doctor.
Velaxin and driving
Velaxin is a drug that acts strongly on mental processes, therefore it can delay and slow down motor skills. Patients taking Velaxin should limit driving vehicles during the treatment period.
Possible side effects
Like every drug, Velaxin can also cause side effects, but not every patient has them. Some of the more common side effects are headache, nausea, abdominal pain, sweating, dry mouth, eating disorders, sweating, nervousness, insomnia, palpitations, vomiting, constipation and diarrhea.
If the dose of the drug is exceeded, the following may occur: disturbance of consciousness, dilated pupils, convulsions or tachycardia.
Ingredients of the drug Velaxin
The active substance of the drug is venlafaxine, in one tablet it may be in the following amounts: 37,5 mg, 75 mg or 150 mg.
The other ingredients are: talc, sodium chloride, microcrystalline cellulose, ethyl cellulose, diamondicon, copovidone, xanthan gum, colloidal anhydrous silica, yellow iron oxide.
Tablets may be in the amount of 28 pieces in two blisters of 14 pieces or 30 pieces in three blisters of 10 pieces.
Storage of Velaxin
Velaxin should be kept out of the sight and reach of children. Protect the tablets from moisture and daylight. They should not be stored above 25 degrees Celsius. Store in the original package and do not use after the expiry date. Do not drain the tablets in the sewage system.
