Vegetables in the diet – proven ways – Dietetics – Articles |

Specialists recommend preparing meals together with children, arranging the ingredients in an attractive way pictures or placing the most colorful dishes on the plate. Dietitian Emilia Gnybek-Ciosek has already written about these methods.

But what to do when our child is not affected? When all attempts fail? When the child does not even want to try the prepared one together, a colorful meal with vegetables? As I myself have a mega-garment w home, I’m slowly becoming a specialist in tricky placing vegetables in meals. Here are my ways:

The first method – vegetables in a cocktail

If your child likes fruit and juices, prepare smoothies for him. Put a few fruits and one vegetable in them, so that it is not too much palpable for the baby, so that after a few sips it does not turn out that the baby is he won’t drink it.

If the child does not like colored dishes, add to a cocktail of vegetables of a light, neutral color or explain where it came from this is the color of the cocktail.

Sample cocktails:

  1. Cocktail with celery – 2 apples, pear, 2 stalks of celery.
  2. Cocktail with chicory – 2 apples, a banana, a few leaves of chicory.
  3. Cocktail with carrots and parsley – apple, strawberries, carrots, parsley – if the child is concerned about the color of the cocktail, explain to him that it is because of the strawberries.
  4. Cocktail beetroot – apple, raspberries, beetroot – explain the color with raspberries.

Second method – pancakes from vegetables

If your child likes potato pancakes, prepare them for him also pancakes with other vegetables, e.g .:

  • Pumpkin pancakes
  • carrot pancakes
  • zucchini pancakes
  • potato and cauliflower pancakes

 Sample Pumpkin Pie Recipe:

Ingredients: 100 g of peeled pumpkin, egg, 2 tablespoons of flour, oil for frying

Execution:

  1. Pumpkin grate or blend in a blender.
  2. Add egg and flour, mix, season to taste.
  3. Form spoon pancakes and fry in hot oil.

Third method – vegetable cakes

There should be no problems with introducing this method, because most of the little ones like sweets. For example, a carrot cake is recommended lub fasolowe.

Bean Cake Recipe:

Ingredients: 300 g pre-cooked beans, 3 eggs, 3 tablespoons cocoa, 5 spoons of honey, dried fruit, a flat teaspoon of baking powder

Execution:

  1. Blend Egg yolks, beans and honey, and beat the whites until stiff.
  2. Mix froth with beans, add cocoa, baking powder and dried fruit.
  3. Transfer to the mold and bake at 180 ° C for 45 min

Note – very important (and tricky)

Prepare all the above dishes yourself. The child is not it should see what you put in a cocktail or cake, because the dish will be “burnt” and a stubborn, who doesn’t eat vegetables by definition, won’t eat such a meal either.

Despite everything, shape habits

Sneaky smuggling of vegetables is one thing. Is it a very good solution if the child does not want to eat them at all. But it should be remembered that in this way we do not shape proper habits eating, the child does not know that he eats vegetables.

Therefore, in addition to the above actions, always remember to to:

  • with every dinner or sandwich, as well as as a snack give the child a portion of vegetables – at most he will not eat them, but he will know that we do not agree to their elimination from the menu. Moreover, this way all the time we will give him a chance to convince himself to consciously eat vegetables, even if it were to happen in a few years.
  • eat vegetables yourself – the child must see that others the household eat vegetables, otherwise there is no chance that it will start too do it.
  • not to make a fuss about vegetables – the more you talk about the fact that you should eat vegetables, the greater the opposite effect you will get for such toddler. So add them to your meal, but don’t comment so that your baby doesn’t feel being in no way forced to eat vegetables.

For all my parents, who are forced into deception thumbs up! (and join them in pain).
