When introducing complementary foods, it is recommended to first give the child puree from one type of vegetables, try different options and only then prepare mixed dishes. This will help you determine if all the foods you give your child are digestible. If you find that the child has diarrhea, constipation, an allergic reaction, exclude from his diet the vegetable that caused these unpleasant symptoms.

Keep in mind that complementary foods should be introduced gradually. Increase the serving by 0,5 tsp over the course of the week. up to 2 tbsp. 2–2,5 weeks after the introduction of complementary foods, a portion of vegetable puree should already completely replace a portion of breast milk

Choose only high-quality fresh vegetables for mashed potatoes. At the same time, it is advisable not to buy them in large quantities, hoping that you will have time to cook all the products before they go bad. Rinse vegetables thoroughly with warm water, then peel and rinse again. They should be cooked in a little water or steamed. This is a very important point: if you cook vegetables in a large saucepan, most of the broth will have to be drained, which means that the vitamins that remain in it will also disappear. From 6 months, children can be given mashed potatoes from cauliflower, carrots, zucchini.

Food should be boiled until very soft, then rubbed through a sieve or chopped and mixed with a blender. You can add a small amount of olive oil, vegetable broth, or breast milk to the puree. The food should be given to the child shortly after cooking, when it has cooled down a little.

Cooking vegetables for the whole day, or even more so for several days, is not a good idea. In addition, it is categorically not recommended to salt the dish, especially at the stage of introducing complementary foods.

It is very useful for babies to eat carrot puree. Peel and rinse a small vegetable, cut into strips or small pieces and simmer in water until tender. Then chop the vegetable and add 1 tbsp. breast milk and 0,5 tsp. olive oil. Stir the puree thoroughly, making sure that there are no lumps in it, and then cool it and give it to the child.

You can also cook a dish from a vegetable marrow. Take 2 rings, cut off the peel, chop the vegetable and cook until tender. Then rub the zucchini through a sieve or use a blender. Add 35 ml of breast milk and 1 tsp to the resulting mass. butter and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Cool the mashed potatoes and feed them to the baby.
