Vegantalgin H is a drug used to treat and prevent ailments related to dysmenorrhea, renal colic, hepatic colic, irritable bowel syndrome. Vegantalgin H is a two-component preparation of paracetamol and hyoscine butylbromide, the first substance relieves pain, while the second has a diastolic effect. The drug may be in the form of tablets and rectal suppositories and is available without a prescription.

Ventalgin H – action
Vegantalgin H is a combined preparation with analgesic and diastolic effects. It is a two-component drug containing paracetamol and hyoscine butylbromide.
Vegantalgin H – indications and dosage
Vegantalgin H is a drug taken to relieve pain:
- painful menstruation,
- renal colic
- hepatic colic,
- accompanying irritable bowel syndrome (prevents it).
Drug dosage
Do not exceed the dose of 6 tablets a day. The preparation can be taken regardless of meals. Vegantalgin H is in the form of rectal tablets and suppositories.
- Adults and children over 12 years of age. Orally. 1-2 tablets up to 3 × / d, every 8 h; max. 6 tablets / day
- Rectally. 1 suppository 3-4 × / d, every 6 h; max. 4 suppositories / d.
Vegantalgin H contraindications
Contraindications to the use of the drug Vegantalgin H are:
- hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation or atropine,
- severe liver failure (mainly in patients with alcoholic liver disease) or kidney failure,
- alcoholism,
- anemia,
- congenital lack of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase,
- myasthenia gravis,
- glaucoma,
- prostatic hyperplasia,
- gastrointestinal strictures, tachycardia.
Vegantalgin H – warnings
- Do not use the drug for more than 3 days (in children) and no longer than 10 days (in adults) without consulting a doctor.
- Other paracetamol-containing medicines should not be taken concomitantly due to the risk of overdose.
- Caution should be exercised in patients with mitral orifice stenosis, coronary artery disease, intestinal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux and other disorders of the smooth muscle function of the upper gastrointestinal tract.
- People allergic to acetylsalicylic acid derivatives should exercise caution due to the possibility of allergy.
- Patients who consume alcohol regularly and are starved run the risk of liver damage while taking the drug.
- Elderly people should exercise caution.
- Treatment should be discontinued if central nervous system disturbances, dry mouth, urinary retention and visual acuity or pain in the eyeball occur.
- You must not drink alcohol while taking the drug.
- Pregnant women should only take the medicine if the doctor decides that the benefits for the pregnant woman outweigh the possible risks for the baby.
- The preparation should not be taken during breastfeeding.
- Do not drive while taking Vegantalgin H (eye accommodation may be disturbed and nervous system symptoms may appear).

- Paracetamol enhances the action of anticoagulants from the group of coumarin and indandiion derivatives and caffeine.
- When administered orally, metoclopramide accelerates (and scopolamine) delays the absorption of paracetamol from the gastrointestinal tract.
- The elimination of paracetamol is prolonged with the use of salicylamide.
- Agitation and high fever may be induced when used concomitantly with MAO inhibitors.
- The use of rifampicin, antiepileptics and hypnotics simultaneously with the preparation and alcohol may cause liver damage.
- Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs in combination with paracetamol cause impairment of renal function in patients with renal insufficiency.
- Tricyclic antidepressants, MAO inhibitors, quinidine, amantidine, disopyramide, butyrophenone may increase the anticholinergic effect of the preparation components, cause agitation and high fever.
- Hyoscine butylbromide reduces motility and secretion in the gastrointestinal tract, which may reduce the absorption and pharmacological effect of orally administered drugs.
- The effect of the drug on the gastrointestinal tract may be reduced when taking dopamine antagonists (e.g. metoclopramide).
Vegantalgin H – side effects
- The following may occur: dry mouth, accommodation disorders, disorientation, memory impairment, dizziness.
- Very rarely, the following may occur: allergic reactions (pruritus, urticaria, rash, erythema, angioedema), increased heart rate, hypotension, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, retinal discoloration, glaucoma, impaired liver and kidney function, methaemoglobinaemia, agranulocytosis and thrombocytopenia.
