“Vedmino log” – a great snack for beer and wine

A good feast is possible only with three main components: good company, quality drinks and a variety of snacks. I am a gourmet, so I love all delicious, unusual and beautifully served dishes. Recently, while visiting my mother-in-law, I tried an excellent treat with the intriguing name “Witch’s Log”.

What goes well

I immediately appreciated the perfect combination of products, unusual design. In addition, the dish was not only tasty, but also satisfying. Having learned the recipe, I realized that cooking does not require special culinary talents, and the availability of all products only added advantages to this gastronomic discovery. My mother-in-law often delights me with gourmet treats, but this appetizer is now firmly on my list of favorites.

The Witch’s Log dish will decorate not only a friendly feast, but also goes well with any alcohol.

I call it a universal appetizer. Hearty, tasty, decorated with pickled honey mushrooms “Log”, goes well with cold vodka.

Cheese roll, which is exactly what it is, is a great addition to beer, which makes me hungry, and this dish on the table always comes in handy. And those who prefer wine will definitely appreciate the timely dish and will be able to enjoy an excellent light dinner.

I recommend cooking it to anyone who likes to have fun and deliciously sit with friends, and make sure how much such a treat will please with its taste and cheer up with an unusual design.

What products will be needed

To prepare the snack “Witch Log” you will need:

  • chicken breast – 250 g;
  • hard cheese – 300 g;
  • melted cheese – 2 tbsp. l.;
  • garlic – 3 cloves;
  • mayonnaise – 2 tbsp. l .;
  • olives – a few pieces;
  • dill – 1 bunch;
  • salt to taste;
  • pickled mushrooms – to taste.

I recommend taking processed cheese creamy, like “Amber”, “Our Milkman” or “Friendship”. And from mushrooms, pickled mushrooms are perfect here. But if you don’t find any, you can use small mushrooms.

How to cook

To prepare a cheese roll, in addition to products, you will need a baking sheet and parchment paper. It’s better to prepare in advance.

Chicken breast should be washed, boiled in salted water and cooled. Finely chop or pinch into fibers and place in a deep bowl. Squeeze the garlic through the press here, add 2 tablespoons of melted cheese and mayonnaise. Mix everything thoroughly. If the mass is dry, you can add a little more mayonnaise.

Grate hard cheese on a coarse grater, spread evenly on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper or foil, and send to a preheated oven. Wait for the cheese to melt and turn off the oven.

Put the chicken filling on the cooled cheese, spread it over the entire surface and roll the cheese layer into a roll. Coat it with mayonnaise and generously sprinkle with finely chopped dill. Log-shaped decorations are easy to achieve by decorating with mushrooms and chopped olives.

Such a roll just asks for a table! It is prepared quickly, untroubled and is an excellent solution for a sudden “cabal”.
