Weisberg is a line of unfiltered wheat beer from the Bochkarevsky brewery, which in March 2019 celebrates the 30th anniversary of the bottling of the first product. The enterprise is located in an ecologically clean area of the Altai Territory, 70 km away from large industrial enterprises. Focuses on the production of natural drinks from natural ingredients using traditional technologies.
Today, the plant, originally designed for an annual production of less than 100 thousand decaliters, is one of the Top 5 breweries in Siberia, producing over a hundred types of beer and soft drinks. Products, the recipe and production technology of which are developed by local specialists and invited technologists from the Czech Republic and Germany, are supplied to more than forty regions of the country. In addition to the nearby regions and the Altai Territory, these are Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, Khabarovsk. Since 2012, deliveries have been made to Kazakhstan.
Historical information
The construction of the plant in the village of Bochkari began at the end of the summer of 1981 at the initiative of the chairman of the Vperyod collective farm and lasted seven and a half years. In March 1989, the first beer was brewed. The following year, the construction of its own malthouse began. Initially, beer was brewed exclusively from light barley malt, later special types were used for foamy drinks according to original recipes: wheat, roasted, caramel, light.
For a long time, the brewery remained a structural subdivision of the collective farm, and only in 1996 acquired the status of an independent enterprise. Four years later, a large-scale modernization program was adopted, as a result of which the plant was equipped with equipment of the level of European breweries.
Currently, the plant operates:
- workshop for water treatment from an artesian well with Jurby WaterTech equipment;
- a fermentation shop with German cylindric tanks “Ziemann Ludwigsburg GmbH” with a total of 50 units, which provides the necessary aging time for beer;
- CKD breeding workshop, where 3-5 tons of yeast are obtained from a test tube with several milliliters of pure culture from Germany;
- Italian and German bottling lines for glass and PET bottles with a capacity of 12 and 18 thousand pieces per hour;
- keg filling equipment KHS (Germany) and disposable PET kegs from Petainer (Great Britain);
- European labeling and capping equipment.
In 2012, the plant introduced the ISO 22000 international certification system for food products.
Awards and interesting facts
The quality of the products of the Bochkarevskaya brewery has been repeatedly confirmed at all-Russian and international forums. Since 2013, the awards have been given annually to foamy and non-alcoholic drinks. Wheat unfiltered beer “Weisberg” won gold medals in tasting competitions twice:
- 2014 – International Festival “Sea of Beer” (Sochi);
- 2015 – international exhibition “Prodexpo” (Moscow).
For a number of years, the Bochkari brewery has been working under long-term contracts with Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. In 2015, the Bavarian prince Luitpold visited the enterprise. Noting the high quality of the products and the similarity of the natural conditions of Bavaria and Altai, the prince suggested that the Bochkarevsky brewery produce Kaltenberg premium drinks under license. However, the Altai company decided to promote its own brands of beer on the market.
