Vasomotor rhinitis during pregnancy how to treat
The occurrence of a runny nose is still a nuisance. This is uncomfortable, irritating congestion and the eternal desire to clear the nose and breathe fully.
Vasomotor rhinitis: more causes during pregnancy?
Vasomotor rhinitis – swelling of the nasal mucosa, manifests itself for reasons not yet known for sure, although otolaryngologists have assumptions:
- Not without hormones. Pregnancy is fertile ground for such a factor. Relapses are also possible during menopause, puberty, PMS. Do not exclude the use of hormonal contraceptives.
- Sometimes the disease is provoked by the patient of the ENT doctor herself, when she takes vasoconstrictors uncontrollably (they do not use them for more than a week!).
- Medicines that lower blood pressure can adversely affect blood vessels, which is why rhinitis is observed.
- Allergic reaction (to dust, wool of smaller brothers, plants).
- Humid or polluted air, tobacco smoke.
Sometimes the reason is more prosaic – the matter is in the curvature of the nasal septum. There is no way without surgery, but you need to wait for the birth of the child. Then the improvement of the woman’s condition is possible. What if it’s not a vasomotor type of ailment?
Symptoms of vasomotor rhinitis during pregnancy
Puffiness, congestion, nasal discharge (mostly odorless, transparent) appear. They may appear several times a day or not let them know about themselves until the girl goes for the weekend to another area where the climate is significantly different.
The danger of the disease is in the absence of a full breath. The expectant mother and child now especially need oxygen. Its deficiency negatively affects both.
Complications of vasomotor pathology are also possible – sinusitis, accumulation of fluid in the lungs, otitis media.
The first thing to do is go to the doctor. Second, they fulfill all his requirements regarding therapy.
Important! Vasoconstrictor drugs – no, attention to what, after which rhinitis worsens, – yes!
Vasomotor rhinitis during pregnancy: how to treat?
The rules for relieving symptoms are extremely easy to follow. You hardly need to spend money on them, the main thing is systematicity. Of the medications, only those containing saline are allowed – “Morenazole”, “Aquamaris”, “Aqualor”.
Other ways to get rid of rhinitis will also help:
- Inhalation. It is only better to refrain from aromatic oils and herbal vapors. They can also cause allergies, congestion, and dizziness. Delicious medicine will help. Sit under a towel over a pot of hot potatoes.
- The good old “Star”. Apply with point movements on the forehead, two fingers below the eyelids, on the nose. It is important not to overdo it, because the strong aroma of cinnamon is not to everyone’s liking.
- You need to go to bed on a high pillow. Not like Louis XIV, but so that the head is higher than the body.
- A saline solution (a teaspoon in a glass of water), which is used to rinse the nose, is recognized as useful.
It is important to have less contact with allergens – let your husband help with washing the bedding, shake out the old carpet, or monitor the dog more closely.
And there is no need to be depressed, because psychosomatics points to the cause of rhinitis as a possible dissatisfaction or a need for help and love. Bad thoughts – aside! Pregnant women are the most beautiful and bright people, they are contraindicated to get upset.
