DIY flowerpots for plants

Gardens and dachas have recently acquired a slightly different status. They have become a place where you want to get away from the everyday life of the city, gain strength. Of course, there is a desire that not only vegetables, but also flowers grow in the country house, for which sometimes there is not enough space. Having made flowerpots for the garden with your own hands, you kill two birds with one stone: solve the problem of space and do without significant financial costs.

Flowerpots from tires: step by step instructions

Making flowerpots from tires with your own hands is quite simple. What will be required:

  • Tire with rim;
  • Sharp strong knife;
  • Sander;
  • A piece of chalk;
  • Soap solution;
  • Primer;
  • Dye;
  • Brush.

The work is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. Prepare the tire in advance for work. Clean off dirt. Wash and dry if necessary. On the tire, mark with chalk a line along which you will cut. Make the line symmetrical and neat, otherwise the flowerpot will look sloppy later.
  2. Cut off the top inner part of the tire. Cut along the marked outline. Dip your knife in soapy water to make it easier to cut. If you have a jigsaw, feel free to use it. Also dip the blade in soapy water.
  3. Next step: Turn the tire inside out. The process is complex, as it requires the application of force. It’s not easy at first, when you need to pry off a small section of rubber and start turning it inside out, then it’s easier.
  4. The edges of the cuts must be processed using a grinder. Get smooth.
  5. Creative stage. The flowerpot from the tire is ready. It remains to add some touches. Treat the surface with a primer and paint in the desired color. Give free rein to your imagination. There are many color options: plain, multi-color, with patterns, with floral motifs. Suitable paints for outdoor work: oil, enamel, nitro paint, automotive.
  6. Move the flowerpot to a permanent place and fill it. Put agrofabric inside, then be sure to have a layer of drainage and soil.

  • Cement;
  • Sand;
  • Water;
  • 2 molds of different sizes;

  • Plastic tube up to 2 cm in diameter.

The procedure is as follows:

  1. Place 3 parts of sand and 2 parts of cement into a container for mixing concrete, mix, gradually add water. The concrete solution should be moderately thick and without lumps. At this stage, you can add a coloring pigment for concrete.
  2. Lubricate the molds for pouring concrete with machine oil. Large on the inside, small on the outside. Make 3 cm lengths from a plastic tube. The tubes are needed in order to make drainage holes.
  3. Fill the bottom of a large mold with 3 cm concrete mortar, insert the tubes in the center. When the solution sets, place a smaller container directly on top of the solution and tubing. So that it does not move, place a load in it (bricks, stones). Fill the distance between the containers with concrete mortar.
  4. After a day, the inner container with the load is removed. The concrete is moistened. Wrapped in foil. The structure remains in this form for another week, so that the concrete gains the necessary strength. Moisten the concrete from time to time. If the weather is wet, then it is not necessary to moisten the concrete. After a week, the concrete flowerpot can be freed from the outer form.
