Varroadez: instruction, active substance

Varroadez is an effective acaricide that allows beekeepers to get rid of two types of bee parasites – varroa mites (Varroa destructor) and acarapis (Acarapiswoodi). It is a highly specialized pesticide with high efficiency. By following the instructions for the use of Varroadez, you can rid the bee family of parasites without victims among the population of the honey plants themselves.

Application in beekeeping

Varroadez is used in beekeeping for the prevention of diseases of bee colonies: varroatosis and acarapidosis. It is believed that in Eurasia absolutely all colonies of bees are infected with Varroatosis.

Composition, form of release

The main active ingredient of Varroadez is amitraz. This is an organic compound of artificial origin, which is an acaricide, that is, a means aimed at the destruction of a specific group of arthropods – ticks.

Another component of the drug is coriander oil.

The drug is released in the form of strips stored in sealed foil bags. Each pack contains 10 strips up to 15 cm long.

Pharmacological properties

The acaricidal effect of Varroadoz is significant. It is most effective when used against adult forms of bee mites of varroa and acarapis species.

Traditionally, amitraz is used as an emulsion in water, which is then used for spraying, bathing animals or making contact strips. Warroades uses the latter method of use.

The concentration of the active substance with this method of application is from 200 to 500 mg / l, which is a fairly high concentration, however, since the bees are in contact with a small area of the strip, such a concentration does not pose a danger to their lives.

Instructions for use

The package with Varroadez is opened immediately before its use. A strip of the drug is suspended in the hive between the central honeycomb frames. Before placing the strip in the hive, holes should be made in it along the edges in order to fix it exactly in the center of the “street” along which the bees will move.

Depending on the number of bees and brood in the hive, the residence time of the strips in it is from 3 to 30 days.

Dosage, application rules

The dosage of Varroadez depends on the size of the bee colony. For large hives (the number of melliferous frames is more than 7), it is enough to place two strips of Varroadez, for small hives (with 6 or fewer frames) – one.

Side effects, contraindications, restrictions on use

Acaricides are a highly specialized group of pesticides, so they can be dangerous for insects (i.e. bees). Therefore, it is not recommended to exceed the maximum allowable dose of the drug (1-2 strips per hive, depending on the size of the family).

Important! The use of the drug is permissible only in two periods of the warm season: in the spring, during the first week after the opening of the hive, and in the fall, when the pumping out of honey has already been completed. At other times, Varroadez should not be used!

Shelf life and storage conditions

The shelf life of Varroadez is 24 months from the date of manufacture.

Storage conditions are standard for products of this kind – a cool place (temperature from 0-25 ° C), devoid of sunlight. The drug is stored separately from products and in a place inaccessible to children.

Conclusion

Instructions for using Varroadez are quite simple, even a novice beekeeper can use the drug. Varroadez is highly effective against varroa and acrapis mites. To date, this is the most effective remedy for ticks in bees.

All my adult life I have been fond of amateur beekeeping. And all this time I am faced with a problem caused by bee varroatosis. Sometimes it was necessary to destroy entire families, so the problem was serious. The traditional methods used, in particular, the heat treatment of bee colonies, were ineffective, and, frankly, they were not much different from complete destruction. Often, after such treatments, a third of the bee colony remained alive, and then without a queen. With the advent of Varroadez, everything has changed radically – it is enough to place a few strips inside the hive, and in just a month the health of the bee family will improve. Excellent product, I recommend it to everyone.

My husband and I keep a fairly large apiary, and every year we had to count the losses from varroa mites. However, everything changed radically after the acquisition of the drug Varroadez. Already the first experience of use on a batch of experimental hives showed that mites can be effectively dealt with, and the bees will definitely feel better. An excellent tool for those who care not only about business efficiency, but also about the health of their pets.
