The yellow carrot has not been specifically bred as a cultivar or type, it is found in the wild and has been known for a very long time. The presence and concentration of the coloring pigment in it affects the color of the root crop. For carrots it is:

  • carotene;
  • xanthophyll (it is he who is contained in the yellow carrot);
  • anthocyanin.

The birthplace of this culture is Central Asia. If we talk about statistics around the world, then it should be noted that it is yellow root crops that are the most in demand and popular. We don’t use them much, because orange-colored cylindrical carrots are common. It is very difficult to find yellow carrots for sale with us, however, it has very useful qualities:

  • yellow root crops contain lutein, a substance useful for humans, which has a beneficial effect on vision;
  • varieties of such carrots are great for frying, as they contain little water;
  • it is also distinguished by high productivity;
  • fruits are quite sweet.

“Mirzo 304”

This variety was bred in Tashkent in 1946 and is still successfully grown both in garden beds and in fields on an industrial scale. The ripening period is medium early and does not exceed 115 days. Although recommended for cultivation in Central Asia, seeds can also be grown in Our Country (as you can see from the video above). The yield is 2,5-6 kilograms per square meter, the root crop itself is wide-cylindrical with a blunt tip. The use is universal.

This hybrid is perfect for various regions of Our Country, as it is resistant to a large number of diseases. The shape of the roots is fusiform (that is, similar to a spindle), the color is rich yellow, they are thin and quite long (reach 23 centimeters). The yellow carrots of this hybrid are early ripe, give a rich harvest, despite some non-optimal conditions for the culture. The only requirement is the presence of loose soils rich in oxygen.

An imported hybrid of this crop, the name translates as “yellow sun”. These roots also have a bright color, are good for frying and processing, and have a spindle shape. In length can reach 19 centimeters. Demanding on soil looseness, illumination, air temperature from 16 to 25 degrees, which are optimal conditions. The fruits are tasty, juicy and crispy. Children will be delighted with them. Ripening is 90 days, which allows us to classify this variety as early.
