Late tulip is a flower that will brighten up the pause between ordinary tulips and irises. This floral group includes many varieties with similar characteristics.

General characteristics of simple late tulips

This group mainly includes tall tulips. Their sizes range from 50-70 cm. The size of the flowers themselves is 8-10 cm. The flowers have a goblet shape. This group does not include terry representatives.

Late tulips bloom at the very end of spring

Late varieties begin to bloom in late May and should be planted in late September or early October. Just bury the bulb in fertilized soil and cover it with fallen leaves to keep it from freezing over the winter.

The planting depth of the bulb is 10-15 cm, depending on its size. The rules for caring for late varieties are no different from the rules for caring for all other tulips.

  • Candy Club. Bicolor flower. The cream petals are covered with bright pink strokes. Sometimes the pink color can occupy a significant part of the petal area. Stem height – 50 cm. In rare cases, this variety is multi-flowered and bears 4-6 flowers.
  • Blushing Lady. The yellow base of the petals merges smoothly to the pink edges. It resembles a blush, hence the name of the variety – “Embarrassed Lady”. Stem height – 65-80 cm. Duration of flowering – 2-3 weeks.
  • “Snow-white handsome” with barely noticeable yellow spots. The inflorescences are smaller than those of other members of the group. The stem length is 50-60 cm.
  • Large golden flowers with red strokes along the edges of the petals. The variety is multi-flowered and bears up to 5 flowers. The stem height is 50-60 cm. It is durable, which makes it a good option for creating bouquets.
  • Hans Dietrich Genscher. Large flowers of a pale yellow hue. Quite low – 35−45 cm bloom up to 3 weeks. Do not wither for a long time in the cut.
  • La Courtine. Giant light yellow flowers. There are small red spots on the middle and bottom of the petals. The height of the stem is 60-70 cm.
  • Mrs JT Scheepers. Small flowers of a rich yellow hue without any blotches. The height of the stem is 60 cm. The variety is distinguished by increased resistance to diseases.
  • Modern Style. White petals covered with bright pink strokes and splashes. Height – 60-70 cm.
