Variant Delta: towards new restrictive measures?
This Monday July 12 at 20 p.m., the President of the Republic is due to speak about the health crisis. Faced with the progression of the Delta variant in France and at the end of an exceptional Defense Council, it should announce the implementation of new restrictions. What are the avenues considered?
The measures envisaged by Emmanuel Macron
Compulsory vaccination of certain professionals
Vaccination against Covid-19 is at the heart of the strategy to fight the coronavirus epidemic in France. Until then optional, it could become compulsory for certain professions, in particular those of the medico-social sector. For the time being, nothing has been confirmed and the compulsory vaccination of caregivers is only a hypothesis. However, some data show that vaccination coverage among nursing staff, especially in residences for the elderly, is insufficient. Indeed, according to the French Hospital Federation, the FHF, only 57% of nursing home care providers are vaccinated and 64% of professionals who provide hospital care. However, the government’s goal is to immunize 80% of them by September. Several specialist organizations are in favor of compulsory vaccination of nursing staff. This is particularly the case of the Haute Autorité de Santé or the National Academy of Medicine. However, the vaccination obligation would not concern all citizens, but only caregivers and other professionals in contact with vulnerable people.
An extension of the health pass
One of the avenues considered by the executive would be the extension of the health pass. Until then, each individual who wishes to attend an event bringing together more than 1 people must present the health pass, including a vaccination certificate, a negative screening test for coronavirus dating less than 000 hours or a certificate indicating that the no one has ever been infected and recovered from Covid-72. As a reminder, the health pass is also mandatory to enter discos since July 19. On the one hand, the gauges could be revised downwards. On the other hand, it could become essential to access certain places, such as restaurants, cinemas or sports halls.
End of reimbursement for PCR tests
RT-PCR tests could pay off, especially so-called ” comfort »And carried out repeatedly, as for the health pass for example. This is what the FHF recommends, which explains that “ The benefits of these paid tests could then be donated to public hospitals and nursing homes, which take care of 8 patients hospitalized for COVID out of 10, to finance the economic cost that the 4th wave expected from September will represent. ».
Restrictions depending on the geographical area
The Delta variant is progressing in France and contaminations are on the rise again in France. Sunday July 11, Olivier Véran explained that the territory was “ at the start of a new wave “. In question, the immune coverage which would not be sufficient to avoid this epidemic intensification. The variant first identified in India, named Delta, is much more contagious than the original strain and local restrictive measures may be taken. It is also advisable to avoid traveling to Portugal and Spain for vacation.
