Valdoxan is an antidepressant drug. It is intended for the treatment of major depressive episodes in adults.

Valdoxan is taken for major depressive episodes. The drug is intended for adults.
Contraindications to the use of Valdoxan
Valdoxan is intended for adults over 18 years of age. The safety and efficacy of this drug is not known in the elderly with depressive episodes in dementia.
Liver disorders are a contraindication to the use of Valdoxan. Liver health should be checked from time to time (every three months) in patients on long-term treatment with this medicine.
Valdoxan is not indicated in patients with a history of mania or hypomania. Treatment with this preparation should be discontinued if symptoms of mania occur.
Valdoxan contains lactose and is therefore not recommended for patients with galactose intolerance, the Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption.
Valdoxan is also contraindicated for people who are allergic to any of the substances contained in the drug.
Tell your doctor about all medications you are taking at the time. Valdoxan may interact with drugs containing oestrogens, fluvoxamine and ciprofloxacin.
Valdoxan is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women. It is not known whether the drug passes into breast milk, but care should be taken in this regard.
How is Valdoxan used?
Valdoxan is taken once a day at bedtime, regardless of the meal. The dose is determined by the attending physician. If, after two weeks of using the drug, you do not notice any improvement in mood, your doctor may increase the dose.
Valdoxan should be taken for a minimum of 6 months for treatment to be effective.
Side effects of Valdoxan
During treatment with Valdoxan, dizziness, nausea, headache, sleepiness or insomnia, migraines, diarrhea or constipation, upper abdominal pain, excessive sweating, back pain, fatigue, anxiety, increase in liver enzymes ALT or AST may occur.
Precautions when using the medicinal preparation Valdoxan
Do not drink alcohol while you are taking Valdoxan as it increases the effects of the medicine.
Valdoxan should not be used after the expiry date stated on the package. The preparation should be stored at room temperature, in a tightly closed container, out of the sight and reach of children.
Valdoxan has no direct influence on the ability to drive and use machines. Nevertheless, due to possible side effects of the drug, such as drowsiness and dizziness, it is recommended to stop or reduce these activities while taking it.
