Lutein is another name for progesterone, the hormone responsible for fertilization and the maintenance of pregnancy. It is indicated especially in cases where a pregnant woman suffers from uterine contractions, as well as in cases where bleeding or spotting appear. Indications for the use of vaginal lutein

Progesterone, colloquially known as lutein, it performs extremely important functions that determine the proper development of pregnancy in the first weeks and its maintenance. This hormone enables the implantation of the fetal egg in the uterine mucosa, prevents premature birth and miscarriage, relaxes the uterine muscles and prepares the mammary glands to secrete milk. The presence of spotting and bleeding, pain in the lower abdomen and uterine contractions indicate that the level of progesterone is too low. If its mucosa is insufficiently supplied with blood, it prevents the proper development of the embryo. Such symptoms increase the risk of miscarriage and late delivery, so your doctor may recommend use of vaginal lutein. Moreover, it is accepted in the case of cervical failure, most often from the 23rd week of pregnancy, as well as in for prophylactic purposes, if previous births ended prematurely or there was a miscarriage.

lutein has a number contraindications for use and they include, among others breast cancer, tumors of the reproductive organ, arterial thromboembolic disorders, the period of breastfeeding, bleeding of unknown origin.

Among the common ones side effects mentions, inter alia, depressive states, feeling of anxiety, drowsiness, dizziness and headaches, impaired concentration.
