Vaccinations against COVID-19 in Poland. Dramatic slowing down

The number of COVID-19 infections in Poland is growing. Experts have no doubts that we will be hit by the fourth wave of the epidemic. The only question is what will happen next. This depends on how many Poles are vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus. – These are connected vessels, we get vaccinated – there will be growth, but definitely smaller. We will not get vaccinated – growth will be high – said Deputy Minister of Health Waldemar Kraska on TVP1. Meanwhile, despite appeals and encouragements, the rate of vaccinating Poles continues to decline.

Compared to June 3, when the record number of over 620,8 thousand was announced. doses of vaccines, the current numbers do not exceed 100. per day (according to data from August 8, the daily number of vaccinations was slightly over 17,5 thousand).

– If the new vaccinations are at the current level, experts predict that a day may be 14-15 thousand. illnesses. If a dozen or so million are vaccinated in the coming weeks, it will be around a thousand, says Deputy Minister Kraska directly. An infectious disease specialist prof. Miłosz Parczewski. The expert admitted that he was frightened by the much smaller number of vaccinations performed recently. – This is a dramatic slowing down of the vaccination rate – I am afraid that we may pay for it with the good of the population – summed up the professor.

Recall that the more people vaccinated, the more we are all protected. Moreover, thanks to herd immunity, vaccination protects not only the person who took the preparation, but also the weakest, who, due to various contraindications, cannot be vaccinated. «Vaccines work like bulletproof vests. They save lives »- a few weeks ago, the immunologist Dr. Paweł Grzesiowski wrote on Twitter.

The second thing to keep in mind is that the Delta variant hits the unvaccinated groups the hardest. Finally, by vaccinating, we distance ourselves from the likelihood of lockdown and the complications it entails.

Restrictions for the Unvaccinated Against COVID-19 – an Effective Strategy?

It is impossible not to mention here the words of the director of the World Health Organization for Europe, Dr. Hans Kluge, who on July 1 (when the percentage of fully vaccinated was 29,1%) said: – This is unacceptable and far from the recommended 80%. vaccinate the adult population.
