More recently, the number of pictures brought from vacation was limited to two or three films that you took with you. But with the advent of digital cameras, everything changed. Now, each vacation means hundreds, if not thousands of photos, which will not have the strength and patience to revise even the most loving friend. Our tips will help you create a complete mini-essay with photos that your loved ones will love to appreciate.

Photo selection is not an easy job, even for professional photographers. But you will have to do it – it is best to take photographs immediately after returning from vacation – while even the smallest details are fresh in your memory.

1. Top 10

From the whole pile of pictures, choose the 10 best ones. Well, or not 10, but 5 or 12. The main thing is to limit yourself to the minimum amount. These should be high quality and beautiful pictures with a good composition and the right mood. In a word, those that you can be proud of.

2. Write a story

Use 10 selected shots as the main storyline of your trip story. And start filling in the gaps in between. Choose additional frames that will make your story more colorful and interesting. Do not get too carried away with details, otherwise there is a risk that the strongest pictures will be lost in a large number of other photos.

3. Eliminate duplicates

Burst shooting results in tons of nearly identical shots of the same subject. Even if you can capture spectacular moments, the impact of these photos is reduced when there are too many of them. Therefore, remove similar images, it will allow you to create a stronger visual story. In addition, you can always return to the photo archive and replace this or that frame with a more effective one.

4. Check the sequence

More often than not, it makes no sense to adhere to a strict chronology – the main thing is that the story turns out to be fascinating. At the same time, you can vary the genre sequence of the pictures – experiment with how the frames flow into one another. Portrait, then landscape, then close-up … Different shots will make your story more effective, and the placement of such shots more coherent. Choose which style of storytelling is closest to you.

5. Look back

Take a step back. Browse through all the selected images: what if you missed something or, on the contrary, selected too many photos illustrating only one part of the trip? The album is full, and the story of the whole vacation is not told? Select again and be sure to give yourself a timeout so that after a while you can evaluate the selected frames with a fresh eye.

By the way: in no case remove the screenings – it may turn out that in a couple of years you will look at these photos with completely different eyes. And the offensive picture when the little daughter poured paint on her favorite dress will become the most dear to you.
