Broccoli is the “king” of the cruciferous family. This vegetable looks like a miniature tree.

Different types of broccoli vary in flavor and texture, and are soft, stringy, and crunchy. Even the color varies from green to purple. This vegetable contains many nutrients, phytonutrients and antioxidants. It is also highly regarded due to its powerful antiviral, anti-ulcer, and anti-cancer properties.

Nutritional value

Broccoli is a unique disease fighter. This vegetable contains many different powerful antioxidants such as quercetin, glutathione, beta-carotene, indoles, vitamin C, lutein, and sulforaphane. This array of antioxidants makes broccoli a very good food for those who are fighting cancer, especially breast, cervical, prostate, colon and lung cancers.

This vegetable is good low in calories and high in vitamins A, C, K, B 6 and E, as well as calcium, folic acid, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium.   Benefit for health

The phytonutrients and antioxidants found in broccoli boost our defense mechanisms and stimulate the production of antibodies to fight cancer.

Bone health. A cup of broccoli juice a day will give us the calcium we need to build strong bones. This is much better than drinking cow’s milk, which contains saturated fat and lacks the health benefits of broccoli.

When buying broccoli, choose green-colored vegetables with firm stems. Store broccoli in an open plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to four days. You can mix broccoli juice with carrot juice and green apple juice to make it palatable. Raw broccoli juice is the healthiest. Broccoli can be steamed as well as quickly sautéed.
