These bright orange fruits carry with them a bright citrus aroma, holiday mood and juicy taste. And that’s not all – there are at least 17 reasons to eat at least one right now.

Did you know that not all tangerines on our counters are the same? And the difference is not only in the country of origin – there are many varieties of tangerines.

  • Clementine… These are fruits of a flattened top and bottom shape, bright orange in color, sweet and juicy, with a delicate smell, have been sold in Russia since October. They contain the most vitamin C.

  • Murcott… Small, most often with a lot of small seeds and dense septa, but juicy and sweet, on sale from November to February.

  • Nadorkott. Fruits are very sweet, with reddish flesh and easily peeled peel, usually pitted, but re-pollinated can be quite bony, appear on sale earlier than others.

  • Sacuma. Small, sour or sweet and sour, pitted, with a loose, bumpy skin, coarse pulp, slices of different sizes, ripening time – November-December. This group of varieties also includes tangerines of the Unshiu variety, which are brought to us from Abkhazia.

  • Shiva-mikan. The flattened small fruits with a bright yellow skin appear on the shelves at the end of October.

But tangerines are good not only to create a mood. They are also used in folk medicine.

Juice and pulp

1. Tangerine juice is a healthy dietary and medicinal drink. Children are advised to accustom children to it from a year, if the parents do not have an allergy to it, which the baby could inherit.

2. At high temperatures, mandarin juice quenches thirst well.

3. Mandarins are used to treat asthma and bronchitis. They are high in a phenolic amino acid called synephrine. It is a well-known decongestant and decongestant. To cleanse the lungs of mucus, it is recommended to drink a glass of tangerine juice every morning.

4. For diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by diarrhea, fresh tangerines and juice are very useful.
