urban friendship

Residents of megacities, contrary to the idea that a person is lost in a huge city, complain about the lack of friends less often than those who live in villages and small towns.

Friendly relations, as you know, are based on mutual affection, common interests, spiritual closeness. They give us the opportunity to talk about the innermost and be heard, to feel support and spiritual kinship. However, these seemingly natural and vital relationships are not familiar to everyone. According to a survey conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation, 6% of Russians have never had friends, 16% do not have them at the moment**. At the same time, residents of megacities, contrary to the idea that a person is lost in a huge city, complain about the lack of friends less often than those who live in villages and small towns (7% and 18%, respectively). Residents of megacities are much more likely than urban males to say that there is real friendship in their lives. Maybe the fact is that they are more open to informal communication and therefore more easily enter into friendly relations. At the same time, it is possible that they are a little less demanding of their acquaintances than men, and rather give the high status of “friend” to just good friends.
