Up to what age to breastfeed a child: it is necessary, it is possible, it is desirable
To decide how old to breastfeed, listen to how you feel. Only taking into account your needs and the needs of the baby, such serious issues should be resolved.
How much to feed a baby according to generally accepted norms
Breast milk is an invaluable gift from nature. It allows the child to receive everything necessary for growth and development. Milk helps protect the baby from infections. Breastfeeding gives your baby a sense of security.
Not a single artificial mixture is able to provide all the necessary elements that are in mother’s milk. This milk contains about 1 components, most of which cannot be created artificially. The positive effect of these substances in the fight against cancer and diabetes mellitus has been proven.
Up to what age is it advisable to breastfeed?
There are expert opinions on breastfeeding, they differ, although they have in common – the recognition of the benefits of mother’s milk:
- According to WHO standards, babies need to be fed milk up to 2 years old.
- Pediatricians say that the baby should be breastfed up to 1 year, later the milk loses its protective properties.
- Feeding consultants suggest extending the feeding time to 3 years.
Studies have shown that milk really changes its composition not only within 2 years, but also several times a day. This does not make it less useful.
Despite the recommendations, you need to focus on yourself. A woman does not always have milk, sometimes the mother is sick or separated from the baby. If we talk about proper feeding, when there is a choice, it is worth remembering how babies were fed in ancient times. Women applied them to their breasts for several years.
It is best to focus on a natural process. Over time, the woman gradually stops lactation, and the baby ceases to need breast. If you stop feeding naturally, this is ideal.
Often a young woman makes mistakes:
- listens to public opinion or pays tribute to fashion;
- trying to plan for weaning;
- afraid to spoil the figure;
- refers to fatigue or early work.
None of this matters. It is impossible to know in advance how long you will need to keep this connection with the baby. No one can feel it better than you. There are many ways to restore the figure, and going to work can be easily combined with 2-3 times breastfeeding of an older eater.
Only the woman herself is able to determine how much to breastfeed her baby. It is better to do this in tandem with the baby, taking into account his characteristics and needs.
