A resident of Yakutsk suffered from the negligence of the service technicians who repaired her refrigerator, and a couple of months later it exploded right in the hostess’ kitchen. Only after the examination and familiarization with its results, the company agreed to compensate the damage to the victim. This was reported by the local television channel “Yakutia 24” with reference to Rospotrebnadzor in the republic.
It all started a couple of months ago, when a resident of Yakutsk turned to a service company for the repair of household appliances with a complaint about the loud noise emitted by the refrigerator during operation. After the diagnosis, the master issued a verdict: the fan needs to be replaced.
Although the equipment was not new, bought back in 2012, it was still cheaper to repair it than to look for a replacement for it. But a couple of months after the installation of a new spare part, the refrigerator simply exploded in front of the owners. Fortunately, the owner’s daughter was nearby at the time of the fire, so she was able to quickly put out the fire.
But the service department refused not only to compensate for the damage to its client, but also to admit its involvement in what happened. The victim still managed to protect her rights by contacting the Union of Consumers of Yakutia. The organization’s experts easily identified the source of fire and established the cause of the explosion. It turned out to be the engine fan, which the service department replaced not so long ago. The company decided not to wait for the client to apply to the court for compensation, and compensated the damage voluntarily, paying the cost of the equipment and other related costs.
