Nearly 20 percent of the population struggles with mycosis of the feet, and every fourth of us with tinea versicolor. The sooner we start treatment, the faster we can fight any type of mycosis. For this, it is worth visiting a dermatologist.

It is impossible to deny the ease of infection with mycosis. Fortunately, it is completely curable, and there are preventive measures that are worth implementing.

Two ways of spreading ringworm:

Depending on the type of pathogenic fungi, we are infected with mycosis in different ways. Owners of airtight footwear and feet with excessive sweating are particularly at risk. Contraception, but also pregnancy, is conducive to weakening the body, and thus – during the nine months of waiting, we are more exposed to fungal infections. The same applies to a number of diseases, such as diabetes, cancer, AIDS.

  • Yeasts – they are transmitted by contact with an object

  • Dermatofity – in this case, fungal infections spread through direct contact between a healthy person and a person affected by this disease. It is also possible to become infected from domestic pets, in which mycosis is asymptomatic. Children and farmers are also exposed to dermatophyte infection through the ground.

It could be a fungus!

There is a whole range of types of mycosis, first of all: mycosis of the scalp and beard, nails, hands, feet, body, shin and scaly mycosis. Mycosis of the scalp contributes to alopecia areata and purulent inflammation of the hair follicles.

Itchy, red spots should alert us, especially when they grow over time. They are usually surrounded by scaly epidermis. Blisters on the skin are the size of a pin, a rash is possible, a feeling of skin moisture. Mycosis is often associated with psoriasis.

Treatment of skin infections

Treatment of external symptoms is not sufficient and promotes the recurrence of infections, so we should also destroy internal fungal infections. For this purpose, let’s eat products rich in fiber and Acidophilus bacteria. An anti-fungal diet based on ingredients with low carbohydrate content is also important. It is worth using supplements containing unsaturated fatty acids as well as micro- and macroelements.

Anti-dandruff shampoos will help fight mycosis of the scalp. Directly on skin lesions of the body, ointment and washing with a solution of oregano oil will help. Apply powder, ointment or lotion to the infection site.

How to prevent mycosis?

  • Using only personal hygiene items and clothes will protect us from infection. Let’s not borrow towels, flip-flops, hairbrushes or scissors from anyone.

  • Dry your feet thoroughly after washing, especially between the toes.

  • When trying on shoes before buying, let’s have socks on our feet, and when we get home, let’s wash them.

  • Let’s choose cotton socks, wear clean ones every day.

  • In hot weather, instead of covered shoes, which promote the secretion of sweat, wear light shoes.

  • Let’s make sure that the beauty salon we want to use follows hygiene standards.

  • If we are going to help homeless animals, let’s put on gloves beforehand.

  • Let’s provide the body with vitamins and minerals.
