This year we started doing everything differently: work, have fun, study, go shopping, even eat. And if your favorite dishes remain about the same as always, then your eating habits have changed dramatically ..
According to the results of the State of Snacking survey conducted by Mondelēz International at the end of 2020, 9 out of 10 respondents began to snack more often than a year ago. Two out of three people are more likely to choose a snack than a full meal, especially those who work from home. A cereal bar instead of a plate of borscht, or tea with cookies instead of pasta – this is becoming the norm.
“The fact is that snacks help you more accurately control portion size and not overeat,” said two out of three respondents. “And for some, snacking is a way not only to saturate the body, but also to improve the emotional state, because food is a powerful provider of positive emotions,” the authors of the study say.
So snacks are now in vogue – experts suggest that this trend will continue into the next year. Moreover, the most popular were
chocolate,
biscuits,
crisps,
crackers,
popcorn.
Salty and spicy is still lagging behind sweets, but is rapidly gaining popularity – more than half of the respondents admitted that they eat something like this once a week or more often. Moreover, those who are younger prefer sweets, and older ones prefer salty ones.
Experts noted that there is more snacking around the world, except in Latin America: they prefer fruits.
By the way
Takeaway food became incredibly popular in 2020 – Russians increasingly ordered meals with delivery. And here the leaderboard looks like this:
dishes of Russian and Ukrainian cuisine,
pizza and pasta,
Caucasian and Asian cuisine.
But this does not mean that people have stopped cooking. Experts note that interest in homemade food has grown: someone first began to cook himself, and someone created a new family tradition – children were often involved in baking.
“Exactly half of the parents surveyed noted that they invented whole rituals related to snacking with their children. 45% of Russians surveyed used snacks to captivate children with something, ”experts say.
