Ultrafastin is used in post-traumatic muscle and joint pain and tendinitis. The active substance of the drug is ketoprofen in the form of lysine salt, which is well absorbed through intact skin and excreted in the urine as inactive metabolites. The preparation is a topical gel and is available without a prescription.

Ultrafastin is a gel used:

  1. in post-traumatic pain in muscles and joints,
  2. in tendinitis.

Dosage

Ultrafastin is in the form of a gel and is intended for external use. It should be applied to the aching area of ​​the joints and periarticular tissues and gently massaged.

Ultrafstin and contraindications

Contraindication to the use of Ultrafstin gel are:

  1. hypersensitivity to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including acetylsalicylic acid or any component of the preparation,
  2. skin allergies,
  3. infectious diseases (with skin lesions),
  4. Burns,
  5. skin damage,
  6. pregnancy from the 6th month,
  7. use in children up to the age of 15.

Ultrafastin – warnings

  1. Ultrafastin should not be used for more than 7 days without consulting a doctor.
  2. The gel should not be used on large surfaces.
  3. In the event of skin changes during use, the treatment should be discontinued.
  4. Do not use the preparation on the mucous membranes (genitalia, eye).
  5. Protect your eyes from contact with the drug.
  6. The gel should not be used under occlusive dressings.
  7. Caution should be exercised in patients with heart failure, renal or hepatic impairment, or with bronchial asthma.
  8. Wear protective gloves when massaging the drug into the skin for a long time.
  9. Avoid exposure of the skin to sunlight (including a solarium) for 2 weeks after the end of the treatment.
  10. Ultrafastin gel is not recommended for pregnant women.
  11. It is contraindicated to use the drug in women from the 6th month of pregnancy.
  12. Women up to the 5th month of pregnancy may use the preparation only after consulting a doctor and in case of absolute necessity.
  13. The preparation should not be used during breastfeeding.

Ultrafastin with other drugs

With long-term use of Ultrafastin, there may be interactions characteristic of the overall effect of ketoprofen:

  1. increase in the toxic effects of methotrexate,
  2. decreased effectiveness of diuretics,
  3. worsening of the side effects of other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and alcohol.

Do not use the drug with acetylsalicylic acid and its derivatives. Probenecid reduces the excretion of ketoprofen contained in the preparation.

Ultrafastin – side effects

When using Ultrafastin gel, side effects may appear in the form of:

  1. asthma attacks in people allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
  2. local skin reactions (erythema, rash, itching),
  3. rare: photosensitivity, vesicular dermatitis, urticaria,
  4. very rare: worsening of pre-existing renal failure.
