Turtle cake recipe with photo
Turtle cake is a delicious addition to tea or coffee. It can be baked with your children for a children’s birthday. Children will definitely like the look of such an unusual cake.
The base of the cake is small biscuit cakes, rather, they can be called cookies. There is nothing difficult in their preparation.
Ingredients for biscuit blanks:
- eggs – 5 pcs .;
- flour – 270 g;
- Vanillin – on the tip of the knife;
- sugar – 1,5 tbsp.
Preparation:
- Separate the whites from the yolks. Beat the last with sugar and vanilla.
- Sift flour. Add to the yolk mixture and stir until the mixture is homogeneous.
- Beat the whites until they become fluffy, and add to the dough with light movements.
- Put the mixture on a greased baking sheet in small portions in the form of round cookies. It is convenient to do this with a pastry bag, but you can also use a tablespoon.
- Bake for ¼ h at 180 ° C.
While the blanks are cooling, you can prepare the cream.
Making the cream and assembling the cake
Traditionally, sour cream is used to soak the cake, but you can make it creamy or custard. The cream of boiled condensed milk with walnuts is very tasty. But it turns out to be very sweet, and sour cream has a pleasant sourness. Therefore, the choice is yours.
For sour cream you will need:
- sour cream with a high percentage of fat – 300 ml;
- sugar – 1 / 2 Art .;
- half a dark chocolate bar.
Beat the sour cream with sugar and chopped chocolate. Lay a layer of already cooled biscuit blanks on the cake stand and generously coat with cream. Next, you need to make another second and third layer, each smaller than the previous one, to get the tortoise body. 5 blanks must be left for the paws and head of the animal. These elements also need to be lubricated with cream.
To decorate, you need the following products:
- butter – a slice;
- cream – 1/2 tbsp.;
- half a dark and white chocolate bar.
Melt some dark chocolate, add butter and cream. Since the icing hardens quickly, you need to immediately cover the cake with it and put it in a cold place for at least 40 minutes. Melt the white chocolate and make intricate patterns out of it, like on the shell of a turtle. At this stage, children can also be connected. Have them make the turtle’s eyes and mouth out of chocolate-covered nuts and red berries or marmalade. Chill the cake just before serving.
The recipe gives room for experimentation. Instead of chocolate, chopped walnuts can be added to the sour cream, and the layers of biscuit blanks can be diversified with banana slices, apesin slices, cherries, berries, dried fruits or meringues. Fruity notes make the cake fresher and lighter.
Instead of chocolate icing, the cake can be decorated with kiwi mugs. This decor surprisingly resembles the shell of a real turtle, and the green color goes well with light cream.
